June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month! Here are some facts about men’s mental health ⬇️

1. Culture, race and socioeconomic status can influence how men regard and address mental health struggles

2. Men are much less likely to seek care, which results in lower diagnostic rates for mental health conditions

3. Nearly 1 in 10 men experience mental health struggles like depression and anxiety, but less than half receive treatment

4. Mental health symptoms can present differently in men compared to women, such as emotional disconnection, trouble sleeping or concentrating, substance use/abuse, violence or aggression, loss of interest in daily activities or relationships with loved ones, and can even present as physical symptoms such as headaches, digestive issues, or chronic pain

5. Early intervention can improve symptoms and outcomes.

The best thing one can do is seek connection! Confide in friends and family and take additional steps towards seeking mental health counseling and treatment! You matter! 💙
