Harvest time! The gardeners at Dr. Wood Elementary have been busy enjoying the fruits (and vegetables) of their labor in their campus garden. The Excellence Foundation was proud to award a grant benefiting the campus garden this spring and looks forward to new growth next year!

There is no better way to end the school year than by surprising teachers and students with grant awards! We were proud to award a record amount of student grants this cycle allowing students to attend campus and competitions from Texas, to Portland, to Washington D.C.

None of these grants would be possible without the generous support of donors and community partners. Thank you for investing in our students and schools.

Gilbert Willie Elementary received a grant in the Fall for a campus-wide bookclub experience with "The World According to Humphrey." Educators recorded each chapter so families could follow along at home. Not every take was smooth sailing...

Cutting into Science! Terrell High School Biology students went beyond the textbook and dove deep into shark anatomy this week. This hands-on shark dissection experience allowed students to identity organ systems, connect classroom concepts to actual anatomy, and gain a deeper understanding of marine life.

For Terrell High School Junior, Ricardo Guerrero, robotics has done more than spark an interest - it has redefined his future.

Through Terrell ISD Excellence Foundation grant-funded opportunities, Ricardo discovered a passion for building and engineering. “Having the opportunity to build and get this hands-on experience has truly changed my life,” Ricardo said. “It’s helped me discover my passion and where I want to go.”

That passion is now driving an ambitious goal: a career with NASA, where he hopes to design and build rovers for planetary exploration. What once felt out of reach is now within sight, thanks to the experiences and access made possible through Terrell ISD's robust robotics program and grant opportunities.

Ricardo’s journey is a powerful reminder that investing in Terrell ISD's Career and Technical Education Department doesn’t just fund a program, it helps launch futures.

'The World According to Humphrey,' brought to you by Terrell Tiger legend, Coach Pat Walker!

Gilbert Willie Elementary students and families are about to enter into the World According to Humphrey through a campus-wide book club of sorts. Each student will receive their own copy of the book to take home. GWE staff members have been busy recording special videos to help guide students and families through the pages and discussion topics.

This campus-wide program, was made possible through the generosity and commitment of our wonderful donors!

In 2017, Furlough Middle School student, Jakobe Garrett received an Excellence Foundation student grant to attend a STEM Leadership conference. Nearly 10 years later he is finishing up his junior year at Prairie View A&M University earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Architecture and still finding time to volunteer his time at the Terrell High School Robotics tournament. Jakobe fell in love with Robotics and Engineering during his time as a Terrell ISD student and now has his sights set on a career in the oil and gas industry.

Keep up the great work, Mr. Garrett!

Mission Excellence has officially launched 🚀

Pre-K students at W.H. Burnett came in from recess and stepped right into Mission Control where they discovered the wonders of NASA and suited up for an out-of-this-world day of learning and play.

Thanks to your generosity, this immersive NASA learning station was awarded to W.H. Burnett as a Fall 2025 Excellence Foundation grant, and will inspire Terrell ISD's youngest learners to reach for the stars!
