Congratulations to Dustin Conner on this extraordinary achievement. Your unwavering pursuit of higher education and continued commitment to expanding your knowledge and expertise in your craft are a shining example to every member of our department.

Your dedication to professional growth not only strengthens personally but also exemplifies the leadership, commitment, and dedication you bring to our department and its members.

Terrell Emergency Management Coordinator Dustin Conner recently completed the Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) program through the Texas A&M Center for Executive Development at Mays Business School.
The FSCEO program is an executive-level leadership program developed specifically for fire service leaders and delivered through Texas A&M’s Mays Business School. The program focuses on areas such as executive leadership, organizational management, finance, strategic decision-making, communication, and leading through change. It brings together fire service executives from across Texas and applies business and executive management principles to the challenges of leading public safety organizations.
"I appreciate the City, and the Fire Department continuing to support opportunities like this. The program gave me some additional tools and perspectives that I believe will be useful not only in my role here, but as we continue working to develop our department and prepare for the growth of Terrell," Conner said.

Today, Terrell Fire Department had the privilege of meeting Hellena Pugh and hearing the powerful story behind her annual tradition. As a child, Hellena survived a house fire that tragically claimed the life of her five-year-old brother, Harvey. Every year on his birthday, she honors his memory by bringing food to firefighters as a way of thanking the men and women who answered that call so many years ago and helped save her life.

This year, Hellena went above and beyond by providing every member on duty with a sub, chips, and a drink. Her generosity was appreciated, but even more meaningful was the message she shared with us. Her story is a reminder that the work firefighters do reaches far beyond the emergencies we respond to each day. Sometimes the impact of a single call lasts a lifetime.

On behalf of everyone at Terrell Fire Department, thank you, Hellena, for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering commitment to honoring Harvey’s memory. Your words of encouragement and your generosity mean more than you know, and we are grateful that you chose to share this special tradition with us.

🚨 𝐓𝐌𝐑𝐒 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝟖% 🚨

More Texas cities are adopting the 8% TMRS employee contribution rate—an important factor for officers comparing long-term benefits, not just pay.

📊 𝟑𝟔 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟖% 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓
📅 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐧 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Why it matters: while salary gets the spotlight, TMRS contribution rates and city matches can significantly impact retirement over a 20–25 year career, especially in competitive DFW agencies.
