The Story of Meadowview
Temecula is one of the most historic communities in Southern California, and Meadowview’s history stretches just as far back.
The Vail family was very influential in the history of our land. Already successful cattle ranchers in Arizona, in 1904 they initially purchased 87,500 acres (more than 135 square miles) in Temecula and the surrounding region. Over 60 years they expanded their cattle and agriculture businesses throughout the area. During this time, their land holdings grew to more than 97,000 acres. The Vail family even damned up Temecula Creek in 1948 to create Vail Lake.
In 1964, the Vail family sold all their land to the Kaiser Development Company and a new chapter began for the land we are on today. The development company created many subdivisions including a new 1175-acre subdivision designated as Meadowview, Rancho California, where they made residential sites available for development.
Meadowview was divided into lots for individual homeowners to purchase and construct residences upon, with over 385 acres of common area to enjoy running, walking, bicycling equestrian trails, tennis courts, spa, pools, and basketball courts.
