Calabrese Berro, Carolyn (Taylor Center 1960)
The Taylor Alumni Association extends condolences to the family and friends of Carolyn Calabrese Berro. Carolyn Berro was born on January 1, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Michael and Elizabeth Calabrese. Carolyn, a longtime resident of Taylor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, surrounded by her family at the age of 84. Carolyn was the beloved wife of the late Norbert Berro; loving mother of Michele (Anthony) Burton and Leslie (David) Stewart; sister of Mary Ann (Richard) Sclater and Michael (Barbara) Calabrese; cherished grandmother of Mynal (Andrew) Marshall, Carly Stewart, and Samuel Stewart; and proud great-grandmother of Inayah Marshall and Braxton Marshall. She is also survived by many loving family members and dear friends. Carolyn lived a life centered on family, friendship, and love. A proud 1960 Homecoming Queen at Taylor Center High School, she spent many years working in her family’s business before beginning a career as an HR associate at a local department store. Carolyn cherished her lifelong friendship with Judy Korody and shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Norbert, who was the love of her life. Above all else, Carolyn’s greatest joy on this earth, was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and the center of her world. She was known for her warm hospitality, holiday traditions, and Friday night family dinners that often ended with laughter, singing, and dancing. Funny, generous, and full of life, Carolyn made everyone feel welcome and was always there when someone needed her. She loved with her whole heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road, Taylor, Michigan. Funeral service Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

We in the Alumni Association believe that volunteering in your community is always a great thing. Sometimes, though, everyone that does volunteer wonders if it really makes a difference. Sometimes people never feel you give “enough”. Yesterday/today we once again saw proof of making a difference and why we do this.

The Alumni Association received an email from a gentleman. His grandfather was a “hobbyist sculptor” who he said created several bronze busts during the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. He recalled being told that one he did of John F. Kennedy was displayed at Kennedy High School and he was trying to find a photo of it. His family has the original casting mold but he had never seen a photo. He is working on a project about his grandfather and thought a photo would be great to include. We went searching and we found a photo of it! He said it matched the mold they have. He said the mold has deteriorated and chipped over the years so he was able to see an actual picture of it. He was happy, we were happy!

So, the purpose of this long message is; volunteer, it makes a difference!

Shufeldt, Brian (Taylor Center 1997)
The Taylor Alumni Association extends condolences to the family and friends of Brian Shufeldt. Brian Shufeldt, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the age of 46. Born on July 15, 1980, in Dearborn, Michigan, Brian will be remembered as a bright, spirited presence whose warmth and energy left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Brian graduated from Taylor Center High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, an accomplishment that reflected both his determination and pride. He was a devoted sports fan who loved all the Detroit teams, with a special passion for hockey and for the University of Michigan. He also found great joy in golf and camping, and some of his happiest moments were spent watching his nephews play sports. Known affectionately as “Fun Brian,” he was truly the life of the party. He had a way of lighting up any room he entered, bringing laughter, ease, and a sense of togetherness wherever he went. Brian was also a simple man, and at the center of his life was what mattered most to him: his family. His family was his love in life, and they always came first. He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlynne Spears, and her husband, Ryan, and by his son, Gordon Shufeldt. He is also survived by his father and mother, Steven and Susan Shufeldt; his brothers, Bobby and his wife, Stephanie and Brad; his nephews, Jaiden and Jaxon; and by Adrienne Swindlehurst, his longtime companion and the mother of his son. Brian also leaves behind his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other loving family members and friends who will carry his memory forward with affection and gratitude. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at The Allen Park Chapel – Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. In honor of Brian, the family encourages everyone attending the visitation and service to wear sports attire representing their favorite team, a fitting tribute to a man whose love of sports, laughter, and family touched so many lives. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Memorial contributions to honor his life may be made to the family.

Miracle Timmons, Patricia (Kennedy 1970)
The Taylor Alumni Association extends condolences to the family and friends of Patricia Miracle Timmons. Timmons, Patricia Ann, was born on June 2, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Turner and Gladys Miracle. Patricia, who resided in Taylor, Michigan, passed away on September 23, 2026 at the age of 74. Beloved wife of Michael (for 57 years). Loving mother of Holly (James) Moody and the late Michael John Timmons II. Dearest grandmother of Stephanie, Corey and Rhinnon Moody. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers; Jerry and Ronald Miracle. Patricia loved to travel, loved to garden and above everything else loved her grandchildren. Also survived by many other loving family and friends. Visitation Monday, September 28, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road. (313) 291-1800. McAllister, Shirley (Lay personnel at Myers Elem., Hoover Middle, And Truman High )
The Taylor Alumni Association extends condolences to the family and friends of Shirley McAllister. Shirley Ann McAllister passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026 at the age 88. Beloved wife of the late Charles. Loving mother of Jeanne Shatter, Angela McAllister, Charles McAllister Jr., Mark McAllister, Lisa (Mike) Shinabarger, and Briget (Daryl) Urban. Proud grandmother of seven. Loving great grandmother (GG) of eight. Shirley worked for the Taylor School District for 32 years. She was also heavily involved, along with her late husband, in the Taylor South Little League and the Junior League World Series. Shirley spent time tending to her garden. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going on senior trips with friends. She loved music and singing but especially dancing. Wherever she was, if there was music, she was on the dance floor. Her faith in God and love for her family carried her through her lifetime and her final years. Visitation Sunday, October 4th 2 PM until 9 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 980 North Newburgh Road (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill) Westland. Funeral Service Monday, October 5th 11 AM also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Let's give our culinary kids the support and show them some Alumni love.....if you live in the area, come on out if you can (make sure to make reservation and make it early cause they are limited on space) and if you can't get a reservation, do a carryout. The kids work so very hard and personally I think their food is great!
