Greetings to you all, my name is Shawn Leftwich and I’m the creator of HBH Highly Favored Center which is a non-profit 501(c)3 that operates out of my home. I’ve been serving impoverished communities, foster children, the elderly, homeless veterans and civilians since 2001. I’ve been saddened yet inspired to help displaced families due to fire tragedies and individuals that have lost their jobs an
d homes without a place of refuge who have issues helping themselves. I need your help to effectuate positive change for these folks and more, on a larger scale. I’ve discovered the opportunity to purchase a school that has closed in a disadvantaged area and in the wake of numerous school-closings across our country; I envision using buildings that once educated our children to address the need for temporary housing for impoverished communities. HBH Highly Favored Center will use these temporary shelters as dormitories, medical stations and classrooms to provide the necessities of ‘home’: food, clothing, medical evaluation, job skill development and a simple piece-of-mind subsequently, empowering the residents to achieve their greatest level of self-sufficiency. Being a long time resident; I’d be grateful for Detroit and its Metropolitan area to be the first center of many, across our country to open. I’m in need of your help to provide a safe, nurturing and encouraging environment that is critical for the veterans that have served us, those displaced families with children searching for safety or the individuals that just need a safe place to ‘pause’ in order to contemplate the next move toward striving as opposed to merely scraping to survive. I graciously ask for your help in making this endeavor a reality for the people that need it most. Your donations will help make HBH Highly Favored Center a reality through the purchase of a closed-school, maintenance, repair and logistical matters necessary to open the doors this year, 2015.
