12 Volt Bolt - FIRST Robotics 12 Volt Bolt is a First Robotics program for students in grades 3-12, located in Lake County, Florida. Email: [email protected].

12 Volt Bolt is a Tavares based FIRST robotics team providing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education and real-world experiences to local area high school students. We are a nonprofit organization that relies solely on tax deductible donations and sponsorships. 12 Volt Bolt is active in the community promoting science and technology through demonstrations and programs that support local events and charities. The team provides training and technology expertise to teenagers on industry standard hardware and software. The opportunities presented serve to furnish students with insight and experience regarding technology based concepts and applications. The skills are acquired through an atmosphere of competition and teamwork in a hands-on environment. We need volunteers to help coach/mentor team members and teach skills related to mechanical, programming and electrical disciplines using real world applications. Volunteers are also necessary to assist with fundraising and public relations

Donations are needed to provide students with up-to-date tools, equipment and STEAM education. Funding is also necessary to support our team’s participation in FIRST events and robotics competitions. Donations can be made to: Mount Dora Community Trust – FIRST Robotics Team 1557, 1685 David Walker Drive. For more information please visit our website at: www.12voltbolt.net

Our FTC team has started trying to get the shooting perfected on last year's FTC robot. We are doing this because we are thinking that with perfecting the previous year's shooting, we can transfer those ideas onto our robot this year. It is also providing more experience to our newer coders. We are excited to come up with new ideas, and experiment with them on our new robot.

This Tuesday some of our previous FRC members began to work on something called a Swerve Drive for our FTC team. A Swerve Drive is a very big part of FRC that makes driving better, because it makes the robot stronger, faster, and more maneuverable. We are excited to try this new driving chassis.

Another group of students building missions for BioGlow - This year's First Lego League game. They learned how to work together to build a model. It takes great communication, organization and a plan to make sure both students are actively helping each other. They discovered that a second set of eyes is helpful when the Legos don't seem to go together as planned.

This is a huge shoutout to our amazing FTC team member, Aleena! 🎉

When Aleena joined 12 Volt Bolt last year, she planned to help with the business side of FTC Team #30419. But along the way, she discovered a passion for engineering as well.

Her dedication to the team led her to present before a panel of engineers in Canada. Through her outstanding presentation and genuine passion for our mission, Aleena helped secure $1,600 to support 12 Volt Bolt!

We are incredibly proud of her willingness to step outside her comfort zone, grow in new skills, and represent our team so well. Congratulations, Aleena, and thank you for making such a tremendous impact! 🚀🤖

A special thank-you to Burns & McDonnell for giving Aleena the opportunity to share our team's story and for investing in the next generation of STEM leaders. Your generosity and support of our students make opportunities like this possible!

We are super blessed to have Coach Doug guiding our students in mechanical design! He knows how to give just enough to keep students learning in their journey. It's time for one of our students to start learning a bit more, so he gifted him one of his very own written works on mechanical design.

Our coaches are investing in students in amazing ways! If you have skills to share, would you please consider joining the investment efforts? Contact us at [email protected]!

We are incredibly proud of our students! Aleena and Isaiah courageously shared their personal stories about how 12 Volt Bolt has helped build confidence they never had before and introduced them to skills that once felt completely foreign, but are now passions they genuinely enjoy.

Out of three outstanding non-profits, the stories shared by Aleena and Isaiah truly captured the hearts and minds of the women in attendance, ultimately earning their votes. Because of their impact, the team walked away with a generous gift that will help provide new equipment and materials for the upcoming fall competition season.

Yes, 12 Volt Bolt is a robotics team. BUT, it’s so much more than a robotics program. It’s a life-changing experience that equips students with confidence, purpose, leadership, and real-world skills that will shape their future for years to come.

Thank you 100 Women Who Care, Golden Triangle for welcoming us and supporting us!
