Here is our lovely Tee Keeffe telling members about the beginning quilting classes she will be teaching next month on July 12, 19, 26 and Aug. 2. Due to the popularity of the class, she is increasing the number of participants from 15 to 20.

Update…..there is a $10 fee for Tee’s class.

Tee also shared these thoughts with us:
We are Quilters…..
Have you ever told someone you are a quilter and they tilt their heads……kind of like a dog does when you talk to them as if they are trying to understand? Well, we get it. We so get it.
We help each other by sharing in the joys of quilting and our personal lives.
We are a quilt family. We belong.
We understand each other.
We understand your passion for quilting.
Quilters have an instant connection with one another.
Again we are quilters.
We understand getting lost in your studio for hours, maybe days.
We break bread and we laugh so hard we wet our pants.
I am proud to say I am a quilter.

Thanks, Tee! You inspire us!

Our speaker today was Kestrel Michaud, an artist who discovered creating art using fabric as a teenager and then later learned to add quilting to her designs. Her work uses computer technology extensively along with a Cri-cut machine, lots of talent and tons of patience. Thank you, Kestrel, for sharing your work with us.

We installed our new officers at our meeting yesterday, had a Christmas stocking contest, played some games and finished with a fantastic potluck lunch. The first pic is of outgoing President Pat Alpaugh and incoming President Linda Biko. The new Executive Board is, from left to right, Jodi Tompkins, Linda Biko, Jeanette McClintick, Gail Feustel, Chris Schreiner, and Jan Becherer. Linda presented Pat with a beautiful President’s quilt, which Linda had pieced and quilted herself…..note the lovely detail! The stockings will all be in the boutique at the quilt show in November, including the winning stocking made by
Marilyn Wesche. Good luck to the new board members and thank you to Pat for all of your hard work, leading the guild for the last two years!

Lake County Quilters Guild

Membership is open to all quilters from beginners to experts!

We meet every week with a business meeting the 1st Tuesday of the month. We gather between 9:15 and 10:00 am for social time. Meetings begin at 10:00. The remainder of the day until 2 p.m. is open to socialize or work on whatever you want to - unless we have a planned program or charity work. The second Tuesday of each month is a mini-retreat. There is no meeting that day but members and guests are invited to bring their projects and machines and work on them from 9:15 am until 2:00 pm.

We hold an annual quilt show in November of each year. All quilts are judged and entry of quilts is limited to guild membership. The show is open to the public. In addition to beautiful quilts, there is also a boutique, demos, and vendors.

We maintain a guild library for our members' convenience. It is open from approximately 9:00 - 11:00 each week. You can check out books for 2 weeks at a time.
