⛔️Cat/Kitten Intake is closed until we have more adoptions. We are at capacity. 😭
😫Unfortunately our inbox is off the hook with cats/kittens in need. Nonstop pleas and emails begging for help. It is gutwrenching. Here is the reality:
‼️Hillsborough County alone has over 150,000+ unfixed cats living on the streets on any given day. It's not something rescues can fix. They will always exist. And the state does not regulate spay/neuter or breeding. People are still out here buying animals and making more. Fast cash. Animal exploitation. Impulsive and greedy desire for aesthetic qualities. It's a hot mess and it will continue.
💰Prices everywhere have increased and vet care is expensive. People are offloading pets like they're disposable. We can't keep up!
🥴Owner surrenders are emailing on the HOUR. Times are tough, but pets are for LIFE. We no longer accept owner surrendered pets (since February 2024 we decided to focus strictly on homeless and sick pets, and to not enable the "rehoming" epidemic.) We have no magical powers. We are struggling to find animals homes too.
We are not first come first served. Applications don't guarantee approval of adoption. We stand by our standards/decisions and protocols to best match homes and animals to each other. In 20 years, I have personally maintained a return rate of less than 5%. I know the system works.
‼️➡️We can't function without support, engagement, donations, fosters and adopters. We are struggling to even have followers engage or like our posts. To those who do support us, consistently, or ever, you are so appreciated and we see you and love you. Thank you for standing with us and our mission to save lives! 🩷
➡️The need of animals in our communities have grown, the engagement has decreased. That's just the facts.
We are sorry we can't help them all. We truly want to. We'd save every animal from harm and suffering if we could. The burden is great, the tears are constant, but we are simply a small group of volunteers doing our best. And we won't stop.
