Doel Reed Center in Taos Multi-disciplinary creative center in Taos, New Mexico presented by Oklahoma State University

Oklahoma State University immediately recognized the potential when Martha Reed offered her alma Mater a unique opportunity to establish a multi-disciplinary Education center in the area of Taos, New Mexico, a locale that has legendary artistic heritage. Today, the Doel Reed Center in Taos stands as a testament to her vision and generosity. Martha's father, Doel, helped establish OSU's Art Department and directed it until his 1959 retirement to the family property located on the scenic High Road southwest of Taos. The art community recognizes him as the "master of the aquatint," and many of the world's most prestigious museums still feature his aquatints, oil paintings, and drawings. He brought unprecedented acclaim to OSU, which has ensured his contributions will always be appropriately acknowledged by establishing this living laboratory on the family property, which Martha donated before her December 2010 passing.

HIGHLIGHT from summer 2026: We began the summer with a co-taught course "Out of place: Field Studies in Photography and Printmaking" offered by Visiting Assistant Professor Shelby Roberts and Teaching Assistant Professor Marika Christofides from in at Oklahoma State University

This class combined photography and printmaking through an immersive, field-based approach. Students visited sites around Taos to sketch, photograph, journal, and create printed artwork in response to each location.
