This is about the UK, but a few of the myths crop up here in the US too. Ironically, it's more often the media who is fanning the flames, not industry. In the US, we have lots of temporary "burn bans" out west, and some cities, notably San Fran area, do not allow new installs. But in at least 80% of the US, you can still even install old, non-certified stoves yourself, with not much problem. Agree?

Details about the application process firewood bank funding are now public on our website. Applications can be submitted as of Sunday, Nov. 1!

A total of $900,000 in grant funding is available this year. Grants will be up $50,000 to enable programs to acquire more wood and larger processing equipment. The level of funding is scaled based on the number of cords processed (both federal and non-federal).

There is some irony in high oil prices, a fossil fuel championed by Republicans, is driving more Republicans to vote for a Democrat. Democrats are more likely to tax and restrict oil, in favor of renewables. We think oil should also be saved for future generations and for the thousands of applications that it is needed for. And, we need to stop going to war over it.

Need to buy oil or propane? In some areas, there are huge price differences. Cheapest price for oil requires minimum of 200 gallons and immediate payment. You will pay a lot more if you only want 50 gallons and can’t pay for a few weeks.

A Canadian study outlines the health risks of smoke from wood stoves. This is why AGH urges everyone with a wood or pellet stove to get and use inexpensive indoor PM2.5 air quality monitor. Don't you and your family want to know the impact of your stove?! For me, this study has several important data points, including the graph below that shows far too few of us are concerned about the issue. And, it found excessive PM2.5 indoors was mainly from opening the stove door to reload. My pellet stove does not contribute to poor indoor air quality, but honestly, I can't say how common that is. This is why we don't like funding Firewood Banks that give firewood to anyone who says that need it. Almost all firewood banks have a process to make sure free wood goes to people who really can't afford it.

President Trump claimed he could end the war in Ukraine and the US war on Iran, but both seem to be getting worse, and American households are paying the price. Meanwhile, US exports of diesel have been rising!?

Both conflicts have led to less diesel being exported - but the data shows more has been lost from the Middle East.
