GRACE stands for Giving and Receiving Assistance for our Community’s Essentials. We start with the philosophy that our community’s resources can fill any need in our community. We are most well known for our weekly fresh food pantry where people facing food and financial insecurity can pick up nutrient-dense food, personal care items, and household supplies. On average, 400 households currently re
ly on this distribution of items that are culturally relevant and valuable as the GRACE community indicates. At our distribution, we leverage and showcase our local partnerships to offer health education, dental and medical screenings; enable security and empowerment through seminars and personalized counsel on impact-driven matters such as tenants’ rights, immigration, nutrition, and benefits; and provide life-enhancing STEAM, music, and visual arts enrichment. Beyond distribution, we advocate generally and specifically for the members of the GRACE community: at school, in our City, in a healthcare setting, and with their employers and landlords. We find recipients for donors of goods, large and small, from baby toys to washing machines. We also find specific items for individuals and families who cannot afford what they need in order to live a healthful and productive life within our community. We procure bicycles to facilitate smooth travel to work, laptops for college students, and up-to-date tools for workers’ success in a competitive marketplace.
