If your kids are coming home from school with beautiful artwork inspired by our public art, you know that Art in the Classroom (AITC) is back.

This program introduces our little ones to the public art featured around town, helping them see and connect with it in meaningful ways.

We’re grateful to the members of the Summit Public Art Committee who visit local elementary schools, sharing their knowledge and guiding students through fun, creative projects inspired by the art across Summit.

It’s been an amazing experience to watch their eyes light up when they recognize a piece from around town—sharing stories of when they saw it and who they were with on their trips downtown.

A powerful new addition has found its place in our town—just in time for Earth Day 🌍

Commissioned by Summit Public Art, this striking piece honors the spirit of renewal, responsibility, and creativity that Earth Day represents.

Created by Nigerian artist Eugene Ebipade Kenboye, it’s made from discarded flip-flops and Crocs—once waste, now transformed into something meaningful and beautiful.

It’s a reminder: what we throw away doesn’t disappear… it just changes form. And in the right hands, it can become art that speaks.

Take a moment to see it up close, reflect, and maybe even rethink the everyday things we leave behind.

All the way from Nigeria, this powerful work will soon find its place right here in our town. Keep an eye out—installation begins outside City Hall next week.

There’s something special about watching a space transform through art… stay tuned.

“Surface Tension” by Charlie Spademan

At first glance, it feels impossible—an anvil resting lightly, almost weightless, as if gravity decided to pause for a moment.

But that’s the magic of this piece.

Spademan plays with perception, transforming something as rigid and heavy as steel into a form that feels fluid, suspended… almost fragile.

It makes you pause and wonder—
How much of what we see is real, and how much is simply tension… held in perfect balance?

If you’ve seen this in person, what did it make you feel?

Save this for your next walk around Summit… and share it with someone who’d pause and look a little longer ❤️

There’s something about winter that makes art installations feel even more beautiful… like the season adds its own finishing touch.

Next time you’re out for a walk, keep an eye out for these little moments around town.

And here, the third of Summit Public Art’s three new additions to our beautiful city!

”Untitled” is an "expressionistic" piece made of painted fiberglass and steel. Artist Bianca Beck used vivid colors, angular lines, and thick strokes to reflect emotional experiences. The sculpture alludes to how we become stronger when we merge into something greater than ourselves.

As the artist states, "The abstracted form might appear to be multiple figures combined and intertwined in an embrace or in a dance - shape-shifting, morphing, and multiplying.”

What do you see?

This eye-catching piece can be found on the Village Green near the Summit Train Station.

Another new work of art, placed in the Promenade on Springfield Avenue, is “Halcyon” by artist Rick Lazes.

Rick works in a variety of materials including wood, glass, and stainless steel. This piece is powder-coated stainless steel completed in 2022.

Lazes's pieces reflect his passion for music and the vibrancy, elegance, and playfulness it brings.

“Halcyon” was selected specifically for this location, its glowing gold color harmonizing with the ever-changing colors of the fountain sculpture, “Pleiades”, by Ray King, seen deep in the Promenade behind it.

Glow it does! Imagine were this photo taken on a brilliant, sunny day 😎!!

With deep gratitude, this was made possible with the generous support of:

Silver Sponsors - Vivian Furman Rubin and Julian Rubin

Silver Sponsors - Laura and Jeff Schaffer

Bronze Sponsor - RAM Gallery

This new installation by Donna Conklin King is titled “Party Charm”!

Cast from empty food containers, “Party Charm” resembles a chandelier tethered to a disco ball by a rusty chain, reminding us of both the joys and hazards of too much celebration.

This beauty is located in Lyric Park (on Beechwood Road, near Springfield Avenue).

With our thanks, this work has been made possible with the generous support of:
