New York Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Inc. Safe Haven Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based on Long Island, NY. Since we do not have a facility, we rely on foster homes.

We are dedicated to saving as many lives as possible, from all over the world.

😭😫 THIS BOY HAS GROWN UP IN FOSTER CARE SINCE HE WAS 3 MONTHS OLD AND HE IS ABOUT TO TURN 1 YEAR OLD! 😩😭

Martin is searching for his forever 🏠 💚

🐾 I love playing fetch and running in the backyard

🐾 I am house broken! I do all of my business outside

🐾 I sleep all night in my comfy dog bed

🐾 I know how to sit when asked and give paw

🐾 I love other dogs and would love a doggy sibling

🐾 Everyone calls me handsome even though that’s not my real name

🐾 I am crate trained although my foster mom says I haven’t needed it

His estimated birthday is 6/24/25. He’s been with us since September 2025! So he is almost 1 year old and full grown at about 35-40 ish lbs. The perfect size!

Black dogs are AWESOME but always the hardest to find homes for 😭

We can’t believe this amazing pup is still looking for a home 🏡

Hey, I’m Hallow! I’m a 13 week old, 13.6 lbs, mixed breed pup who came all the way from Texas to find my forever home. I’m estimated to be around 35/40 lbs full grown.

I’m great with dogs of all sizes and very friendly and social with people, I love everyone I meet. My favorite things to do are play with my toys and other dogs, run around the backyard, splash around in the water, and soak up as much love and attention I can get.

I sleep quietly throughout the night in my crate. I already know the command “sit” and I’m currently learning “down” and “drop it”. I’m also working hard on my potty training and leash walking skills.

I’m said to have a big personality for a little pup. My foster says I’m sweet, playful, confident, smart, outgoing, and always happy!

Our 9 month old puppy Char has been with our awesome senior dog fosters, which is our only senior dog foster home, for months now.

Until she’s adopted we can’t save anymore senior and I have been seeing so many special ones in need of saving!

Introducing Otter — the happiest little potato around!

This floppy-eared boy loves his walks, sleeps through the night, and is crate and potty trained. He adores other dogs and just wants to play.
That said, Otter is a good boy who needs boundaries. He’s a 6-month-old, 40-lb work in progress, and he thrives with consistency and clear rules. He prefers not to be bothered while eating, and he has a firm 9:30pm bedtime — miss it and his chaos goblin side will clock in. He is a puppy who needs someone willing to guide him and thrives when he has boundaries.

Give this boy structure and he’ll give you his whole heart. 🐾

Meet Oakleigh!

This poor 10 week old girl was hit by a car in Arkansas leaving her with a very injured eye that needed to be removed, a broken jaw and two skull fractures. Her jaw was surgically put back in place and the fractures will heal on their own. (I will spare you the “before” photo)

Despite the trauma she has endured she is still a sweet and loving girl. We would love to save her but need a foster on Long Island to step up for her. I’m thinking a quieter home for now would be better for her recovery.

If you can foster, please apply ASAP. She would come to us on 6/21.
