Kesem at Stony Brook University Kesem is a nationwide community that supports children beyond their parent's cancer Kesem operates at more than 120 chapters coast-to-coast.

Kesem is a diverse community led by passionate and empathetic college students working to ensure that children facing the challenges of a parent’s cancer have space, connection, and support to rediscover the joys of childhood. Our mission is to support children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community. Kesem at Stony Brook University

was founded in 2013 and supports children in the Long Island community by providing gatherings, which are local monthly get-togethers, and year-round peer support. Kesem at Stony Brook University is operated by 80 student volunteers and serves 110 campers ages 6-18 per year. Its programs and services are all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

Our coordinator applications for the 2026-2027 school year are now 🎉 OPEN 🎉 !!! If you are looking for leadership experience on campus and love working with kids, join us as part of the coord to help host fun programs for kids affected by a parent’s cancer.

ANYONE and EVERYONE is encouraged to apply! The application form can be found in our Linktree and the deadline is 6/20. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! 💚💙
