Meet Don, a Hero we recently helped.
Don served in the United States Army from 1962-1965 in Friedburg Germany, in the 3rd Armored DivisionIt was actually the same garrison that Elvis Presley served at in 1958.
He said that their main goal was to "rattle the cages" of the Russians by "blowing a lot of artillery" about 8 miles from the border in Czechoslovakia. Flexing the muscle of the US Army if you will.
One of his favorite parts of being in Friedburg was visiting the beautiful Black Forest.

Don, 81, lives alone in Warren in the house that was originally his Grandmother, Pearls. He enjoys gardening, and still mows his own lawn, and plants his flower beds! The birds and squirrels know that he will always have a treat for them.
When he's not in his yard, he is sitting in his garage enjoying a pop and listening to his radio while watching the cars go by.

Back in January, he ended up in the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning. His nurse and caseworker reached out to Macomb County Veterans Association for help with procuring a new furnace for him. They could not release him until his home was safe. Katie Carroll at Macomb County had worked with us before and connected us. We went to the hospital to get his house key and replace the old furnace so he could return home.
We recently visited Don and he was very grateful to Heat 4 Heroes, and all of the donors and supporters that made this possible.

Heat 4 Heroes Founder Michael Kosmalski and Board Chair Greg Nehra had the honor of serving as keynote speakers at the annual iCare of Michigan BBQ.

We were grateful for the opportunity to join them and several other outstanding nonprofit organizations in a collaborative project last year. Events like these highlight the power of partnership, shared purpose, and community impact.

Thank you to iCare of Michigan for bringing everyone together—we truly appreciate the fellowship and the continued commitment to serving others.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been selected by our local BAPS Charities chapter and temple as a beneficiary of the BAPS Charity Walk on May 31.

Our Board Members, Diana Evennou and Greg Nehra, were honored to participate in this inspiring event. Across the United States, more than 50,000 walkers joined together this past weekend in support of charitable causes.

Diana enjoyed meeting participants, connecting with local dignitaries, and taking part in the walk. The day concluded with wonderful fellowship and a delicious meal of lentil stew, all enjoyed on a beautiful day.

Thank you to BAPS Charities and everyone who made this event so meaningful. We are truly appreciative of your support and generosity. ❤️

We are go grateful to be the beneficiary of this years BAPS Charities Walkathon!
The Temple is a neighbor of ours, and they lead with the beautiful spirit of community and charity. We hope to see you this Sunday for a beautiful walk at Lake St. Clair Metropark! Stop by the Heat 4 Heroes tent and say hi!

Some gave all. They laid down their lives so that we might live in freedom, paying the ultimate sacrifice. Last week, the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard paid solemn tribute with a traditional 21-gun salute and the reverent playing of Taps. We hope you will take a moment to reflect on the true, profound meaning of this day.
