A Prayer of Gratitude, Purpose and Direction
God,
Thank You for stopping me in my tracks long enough to feel this.
Thank You for the tears that remind me I am alive, connected, and not walking alone.
Thank You for the path I never planned, for the doors I did not even know to knock on, for the honor of serving veterans through this calling.
I did not imagine myself here, yet here I stand, carried by grace.
Thank You for my fellow veterans, for the brothers and sisters who have walked through fire and still choose to build something great together.
Thank You for trust. Thank You for responsibility. Thank You for the weight that proves this work matters.
God, I confess that sometimes I feel still.
Not lost, but paused.
Not broken, but uncertain.
I have blessings all around me, yet I do not always know which step comes next.
So I ask not for comfort, but for clarity.
Not for ease, but for direction.
Still my anxious thoughts and sharpen my discernment.
Help me recognize which doors are Yours and which are distractions.
Use my story, my scars, my leadership and even my doubt
to help other veterans who feel unseen, tired, or stuck.
Let my voice bring steadiness.
Let my decisions bring hope.
Let my service reflect gratitude rather than fear.
If I am meant to wait, give me patience.
If I am meant to move, give me courage.
If I am meant to lead quietly, give me humility.
If I am meant to speak boldly, give me wisdom.
Above all, remind me that purpose is not always motion.
Sometimes purpose is presence.
Sometimes direction is trust before clarity.
Thank You for choosing me, even when I did not choose myself.
I place this calling back in Your hands, and I ask You to guide my next step, however small it may be.
Amen.
