June is National Foster a Pet Month 🐾
and we’re gonna celebrate our love and space we make in our hearts for these fur babies at BINGOOOOOOO🎉🐾

Every animal deserves a safe place to feel loved, even if it’s only temporary.

National Foster a Pet Month is a reminder that fostering saves lives. Shelters and rescue organizations are often overwhelmed, and opening your home to a pet in need can make all the difference. Fostering provides animals with a safe, loving environment while they wait for their forever family.

🐶 Gives pets a break from the stress of shelter life
🐱 Helps animals become more social and adoptable
🏠 Creates space for shelters to rescue more animals
💕 Offers companionship and purpose for foster families

Not everyone can adopt, but many people can foster. Whether it’s for a few days, weeks, or months, your kindness can help an animal heal, grow, and find a forever home.

🌈 June is Pride Month, and I’ve seen a lot of conversations lately about the meaning of the rainbow and its connection to faith.

I recognize the rainbow as a symbol of God’s covenant, faithfulness, mercy, and promise to humanity. For many in the LGBTQ+ community, the rainbow is also a symbol of identity, hope, acceptance, and belonging.
For me, God’s covenant, faithfulness, and mercy remind me that every person has value and deserves to be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.

Did you know?
✨ The rainbow flag was first created in 1978 as a symbol of diversity, hope, and unity.
✨ Pride Month is celebrated in June to honor the courage and resilience of those who advocated for equal rights and dignity for LGBTQ+ individuals

Studies consistently show that communities that embrace inclusion and belonging experience stronger social connections and a greater sense of community.
That is why HBIC is proud to welcome our LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, family members, and allies to join us for Bingo this month. Our mission has always been to create a space where people can come together, have fun, build connections, and support one another.

Community is strongest when everyone feels seen, valued, and welcomed. You don’t have to understand it, agree with it, or choose it for your own life to recognize the humanity and value of another person.

Respect is not the same as endorsement. Kindness is not the same as agreement. We can hold different beliefs while still treating one another with dignity, compassion, and grace.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month ☀️🧴

One of the biggest misconceptions in the Black community is that Black people or African Americans do not need SPF — and that simply is not true.

Melanin does provide some natural protection, but it does NOT make us immune to sun damage, skin cancer, hyperpigmentation, premature aging, or UV-related skin conditions. In many cases, skin cancer in Black individuals is actually detected later, making it more dangerous.

And another important reminder:You still need SPF even when the sun isn’t out.

Cloudy days, overcast weather, driving in the car, sitting near windows, and even cooler temperatures still expose your skin to UV rays. If there is daylight, there are UV rays.

Protect your skin.Protect your future self.SPF is for EVERY shade. 🤎

Happy World Bee Day from HBIC! 🐝

Fun Fact:
Did you know that bees communicate through dancing? 💃🐝
Honey bees perform a special movement called the “waggle dance” to tell other bees where to find flowers full of nectar and pollen. The dance even gives directions and distance — like a tiny GPS system inside the hive! 🌼🍯

Bees may be small, but they play a huge role in keeping our environment healthy and our food growing. Today, let’s celebrate the little pollinators that help our world bloom! 💛🖤

May is packed with celebrations, appreciation days, and moments to honor the people and causes that matter most to us. This month, we’re celebrating all the amazing May holidays — from Mother’s Day 💐 to Teacher Appreciation 🍎, Small Business Month 🛍️, and so much more!

💜 This month holds special meaning for us as we honor the memory of Courtney Blair, who passed away from Lupus. In her honor, a portion of our May Bingo proceeds will be donated to the Lupus Foundation of America to support awareness, research, and those living with Lupus.
