This week, Hillel at Stanford hosted our annual Pride event, bringing students together to celebrate and give back. 🏳️‍🌈✨

As part of the festivities, we launched our first-ever “ReLoved” Market, where students shopped secondhand clothing, with all proceeds benefiting “Proud & Jewish,” the Jewish float at the 2026 San Francisco Pride Parade!

In the evening, students joined Israel Fellow Gil for a thoughtful conversation about the q***r community in Israel, reflecting on progress, ongoing challenges, and what comes next.

We are proud to create spaces where students can celebrate their identity, support meaningful causes, and strengthen community. 💖

📚 A Year of Learning, Community, and Connection 📚

After meeting with GradHillel students who wanted Jewish learning tailored to graduate life, Rabbi Avram started a course to explore the relationship between science and Judaism. Students from across various fields and disciplines joined the cohort each quarter to study topics such as “Jewish Perspectives on S*x, Love, and Relationships,” “Death and Dying in Judaism,” and, most recently, Jewish bioethics, Biblical criticism, and Kabbalah. 📖

Reflecting on this experience, Rabbi Avram shares: “Delving into Biblical, Rabbinic, and modern texts allowed us to trace how Jewish thought on these topics has developed, and discuss how to apply our learning to the way we think about and move through the world. Most importantly, learning together created a sense of community that extends beyond the classroom. Learning and exploring with this cohort has been one of the highlights of my time at Hillel at Stanford! Our time together has been a reminder of why I wanted to become a rabbi—to explore with others the depths of our tradition in the pursuit of building lives and communities of meaning, lovingkindness, and wisdom.”

"And this is what Rabbi Ḥanina said: I have learned much from my teachers and even more from my friends, but from my students I have learned more than from all of them." — Taanit 7a

We loved helping bring our NYC young alumni together for a Shabbat dinner last month. It’s always special to see these connections continue beyond campus, and we’re proud to support our alumni as they build meaningful Jewish community wherever they are.
