Stanford Undergraduate Veterans Association is the representative organization of military veterans (domestic and foreign), military affiliates, as well as military supporters at Stanford University. SUVA currently has a three pronged agenda aimed at accomplishing the overall Mission and Executive Intent.
1) Stanford Veteran Specific - Support, Assistance, and Camaraderie
Transitional help fo
r incoming veterans and military affiliates, GI Bill assistance, peer-to-peer advising/counseling, campus orientation, networking, morale and welfare, and general support. Our goal in to establish a community and promote esprit de corps among the undergraduate veteran population.
2) The Greater Veterans Community - Service and Outreach
SUVA is aware of the major problems plaguing the veterans community at large. With an overwhelming of amount homelessness, joblessness, and physical and mental illness among veterans, it is our duty to remain dedicated to our fellow service members even after our term of service has expired. As such, SERVICE is one of the major cornerstones in the mission of SUVA. Volunteer work at homeless shelters, food kitchens, Veterans Affairs Hospitals, Non-Profit Organizations, as well as in various other capacities shall remain a major objective for SUVA. OUTREACH is another major cornerstone in achieving our objectives as an organization.
3) Campus Oriented - Participation, Awareness, and Promotion
It should be the policy of SUVA to maintain an active role in campus affairs in order to represent the veteran community positively. Promoting awareness of veterans issues both on campus, as well as off, is the intention of SUVA. Promoting SUVA and its mission should remain an active endeavor for all members.
