Thirty years ago, the Mayfield Fellows Program set out to answer a simple but powerful question: what if entrepreneurial leadership could be taught—not just in theory, but through lived experience, community, and reflection?

Last week, that question echoed across generations.

From Ash Wallington’s opening and Professor Tom Byers reflections on building the program alongside Professor Bob Sutton and Michael Levinthal, to Navin Chaddha’s celebration of a 30-year relationship with Mayfield, the evening reminded us that enduring innovation is a collective act.

We were honored to welcome Stanford President Jonathan Levin, School of Engineering Dean Jennifer Widom, and MS&E Department Chair Ashish Goel—leaders who continue to shape the university’s commitment to innovation and impact. President Levin and Adjunct Lecturer Ann Miura-Ko invited us to consider why universities are so important to the innovation ecosystem.

Tina Seelig brought the spirit of the program to life—bridging past, present, and future through alumni reflections and voices from fellows, including Eyrin Kim and Ahmed Muhammad.

From the first cohort to this current class, what we saw in the room was a living network of builders, thinkers, and leaders committed to shaping a more thoughtful future.

To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. Here’s to the next 30 years

“I’m not surprised [The Mayfield Fellows Program] has thrived. It was the single most meaningful and impactful educational experience I had at Stanford, and without it, my professional life would have gone in a completely different direction.”

As STVP’s Mayfield Fellows Program celebrates 30 years, inaugural cohort alum Kit Rodgers spoke with STVP’s Ash Wallington about the program’s beginnings and the changes in the innovation economy and entrepreneurship education since then.

Congratulations to Schwarzman Scholars Yujing Zhang (’24) and Divya Ganesan (’26).

Both alumni of STVP fellowship programs, Yujing and Divya exemplify what it means to lead with curiosity, global perspective, and long-term responsibility.

A Threshold Venture Fellow alum, Yujing holds a master’s in East Asian studies and brings deep insight into global markets. As a Schwarzman Scholar, she plans to examine how China engages with emerging economies—and translate that knowledge into frameworks for equitable financial growth.

Divya Ganesan, a Mayfield Fellow alum, is pursuing a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s in computer science. Her Schwarzman focus: the governance of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, especially how digital and physical infrastructure is built, regulated, and scaled through public–private partnerships.

We’re proud to see them shaping the future with both vision and purpose.

The newly named Ken & Caretha Coleman Archive of Black Histories in Silicon Valley preserves and celebrates the vital contributions of Black leaders and innovators whose stories have often been overlooked in tech history.

By capturing oral histories, personal papers, and archival records, this initiative enriches our understanding of Silicon Valley’s past and inspires future generations of innovators.

“Our hope is that these archives stand as a living legacy, reminding future generations of the importance and power of stories. Through these archives, their voices and work will live on in perpetuity,” they said. Read more:
