Great job Middelsex Club on your Swim Across America - Fairfield County Pool Swim!! The Club raised an incredible $8,720 and made waves to fight cancer! Congrats to our WaveMakers Oban Birmingham and Parker Wennerholm (holding towel), who each raised more than $1000!! Oban is also a cancer survivor and is the Middlesex Swim Across America team captain -- and top individual fundraiser raising $2,285!! The whole Middlesex Club team did a great job!!!
Here is Oban's story: "In 2026, more than 15,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer, like I was in October 2020. I underwent six months of intensive and difficult chemotherapy and am now a proud cancer survivor. As a member of the Middlesex Club swim and water polo teams, I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change these statistics and no one else has to go through what I did. I am challenging myself by swimming at least 200 laps and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention, and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!"
Parker, who raised $1,439 stated: "I am swimming in memory of my Uncle Pop Pop, James Coster, who passed away from cancer caused by his exposure related to 9/11. He was my Pop Pop’s identical twin brother, and I lovingly called him Uncle Pop Pop.”
Great job Middelsex Club!!
