Happy 251st Birthday, U.S. Navy! ⚓

On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the first ships of what would become the United States Navy. For more than two and a half centuries since, Sailors have defended our freedom at sea, in the air, and ashore.

At SoldierStrong, we're honored to stand alongside the Sailors and Navy veterans who've given so much. Through innovative medical technology and support, we work every day to help those who served take their next steps forward.

This October, SoldierStrong recognizes Agent Orange Awareness Month.

During the Vietnam War era, millions of service members were exposed to Agent Orange and other herbicides. Decades later, many of them and their families still live with the health effects, including cancers, heart disease and neurological conditions.

Their service didn’t end when they came home, and neither does our commitment to them. This month, we remember those we’ve lost, stand with those still fighting, and encourage every Vietnam-era veteran and their family to learn about the benefits they’ve earned.

"Never forget" isn't just for one day a year.

On September 11, 2001, our co-founder and chairman Dr. Chris Meek was at Ground Zero. He survived, and that day changed the course of his life. It's why he went on to found SoldierStrong to help the men and women who served in the years that followed take their next steps forward.

SoldierStrong is proud to have helped bring “The Heroism and Resiliency of 9/11: From Tragedy to Triumph” to life. Narrated by Gary Sinise and directed by Michael Gier, the documentary film goes beyond the tragedy of that day to tell the stories of the first responders, survivors, service members, and everyday Americans whose courage and compassion carried our nation forward.

Last month, we were honored to join The 9/11 Legacy Foundation at AMC Empire 25 in New York City for a private screening of "The Heroism and Resiliency of 9/11” and to watch these stories of courage, sacrifice, and resilience come to life on the big screen alongside a community committed to making sure America never forgets September 11, 2001 and the subsequent Global War on Terror.

We’re proud to stand alongside longtime SoldierStrong supporter David Letterman in honoring and supporting our nation’s veterans.

Since 2013, SoldierStrong has donated $7.3 million in revolutionary medical technologies to veterans and VA medical facilities across the country, helping paralyzed veterans take steps toward walking again and providing life-changing therapy for those living with PTSD.

Some of the most powerful stories of American service were never told on a battlefield. They were told in prison cells in Hanoi and around kitchen tables in military towns.

On the latest episode of Next Steps Forward, SoldierStrong co-founder and chairman Dr. Chris Meek talks with Taylor Baldwin Kiland. She's a former U.S. Navy officer, a military historian, and the third generation of her family to serve in the Navy. She grew up in Coronado, California, among the families of Vietnam POWs and MIAs, and she has spent her career telling their stories.

They discuss:

🔹 How POWs used the tap code, humor, faith and routine to survive years of captivity
🔹 What happened after the POWs came home in 1973, once the cameras went away
🔹 The wives who stopped staying quiet and took on the Pentagon, Congress and the White House to make sure no man was left behind
🔹 What both groups can teach us about resilience, leadership and courage

Today is VFW Day. For 127 years, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has stood shoulder to shoulder with those who served overseas, fighting for their benefits, their care, and their communities long after they came home.

He was told he had a 5 percent chance of walking again.

On Sunday, September 13 Staff Sergeant Bryce Cherryholmes, USMC (Ret.) stood up in a NASCAR garage.

Bryce served eight years in the Marine Corps, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. A back injury led to a four-level spinal fusion, and complications from that surgery left him paralyzed. He now walks using the SoldierSuit, a wearable robotic exoskeleton that SoldierStrong donates to veterans and VA medical facilities nationwide.

He demonstrated it for Ty Dillon and Richard Childress before the green flag at the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway, where our logo rode on the No. 10 for the entire playoff race.

Ty is a third-generation racer, the grandson of NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Childress. He had a playoff race in front of him on Sunday, and he still gave Bryce his full attention in the garage. That says something about the family he comes from.

Patriot Mobile had a car in a NASCAR playoff race and used it to point at somebody else's mission. SoldierStrong is incredibly grateful.
