Building One Community: We operate a community resource center uniquely focused on meeting the needs of greater Stamford area immigrants. Our services Educate, Empower, Employ and Engage, preparing immigrants to become full, successful participants in their community.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are celebrating three members of our board of directors who show up for Building One Community and the families we serve. 🌟 Dr. Antonio Picón, oncologist at Stamford Health, has gone beyond the boardroom by sharing his expertise with our participants through a session on cancer prevention and healthy living. Omar Dinar, Senior Financial Advisor, channeled his dedication into making our first-ever Back-to-School Fair a success, ensuring 200 students started the school year ready to learn. Sonia Alcantarilla, co-chair of our Events Committee, has been a driving force behind our Benefit Breakfast and Colloquium, helping bring people together and strengthen support for our mission year after year. Three leaders, one community. Thank you all.

B1C’s Academic Enrichment Program is off to a great start this fall! 📚 Since launching our After-School program this Wednesday, kids and parents have been enjoying new learning experiences, including a visit from Remy Sosa, who spoke about her exhibit at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. We’re excited for all that’s ahead this fall!

Meet Zayed and Iván, two of our own who have been showing up for B1C year after year. 🌟 Zayed, instructor of our Immigrant Entrepreneurship Incubator, dedicates his time and talent to supporting immigrant entrepreneurs as they build their businesses and their futures. Chef Iván, our professional cooking program instructor for many years, brings his culinary expertise and passion for culture into every class.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are proud to celebrate Zayed and Chef Iván and their continued dedication to Building One Community.

Meet Helena, a longtime B1C volunteer who has been part of our community since 2015 and now volunteers as an ELL teacher. 📚 She shares her time and knowledge with participants as they build their English language skills and is proud to support her community. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to celebrate Helena and her continued dedication to B1C.
