-Rooted in our foundation as Kingdom House since 1902- Louis.

Our story began in 1902 when Kingdom House was founded as a settlement house. Middle class men and women provided education and resources to help the growing immigrant population of St. They created a place of hope, refuge, learning and connection. Weโ€™re incredibly proud these ideals have endured even as the community around us has changed and life situations are more challenging. Our organization

has experienced its own metamorphosis as it adapted to meet the needs of our participants in this changing environment. We listened to and learned from them. As we did that, we continued to move away from crisis service transactions toward holistic transformations. Our priorities have shifted to focus on an individualโ€™s overall well-being. Today, we have a model that is based on educational programming fused with personalized and supportive coaching. We see our participants taking measurable steps to better their futures. This evolution of our fundamental vision and approach led us to choose LifeWise StL as our new name in 2019. It conveys what we are about โ€” helping people at every age live wisely. Our mission is to help individuals and families achieve economic well-being by providing high-impact, relationship-based programs and by addressing systemic barriers to their success.

Each year on June 20th, LifeWise StL joins the world in celebrating the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.

Since 1902, our programs have supported refugees and immigrants making a home in St. Louis, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive. More than 45% of our participants today are first generation immigrants, and our community is stronger because they are here with us.

As we continue this legacy, we reaffirm our promise to support and uplift immigrants in St. Louis. No matter where you come from, you are welcome here.

Congratulations to our Director of Senior Programming, Samantha Ferguson Knight, on your ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š ๐‹๐ž๐š๐๐ž๐ซ ๐€๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐! She was nominated by multiple people for her tenacity and quick response to helping older adults recover from the tornado. We are so proud of her!

Several LifeWise volunteers were also honored at the Senior Fund of St. Louis City award ceremony. Senior Companion Khien Van Hoang and Senior Companion Lula Lowery both received the Community Service Award for their years of dedicated work with older adults in our community.

Thanks to a host of volunteers, including Ameren Corporation, Plancorp Wealth Management, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, ELCA - Manchester, MO, our building was ready to receive our ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ฒ ๐œ๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ this week!

Groups helped to prepare and plant in the garden beds, clean up the building, and paint and organize the gym for our K-8 campers.
