Did you know…the circus world lost another legend, on October 13, 2026? Rudi Lenz, was a world famous Dutch animal trainer. With his wife, Sue Yelding Lenz, Rudi trained and presented an iconic chimpanzee act that appeared with the top circuses of Europe and for 14 years with Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey! They even appeared at the Hollywood Palace with Fred Astiare. The couple was inducted into the International Circus Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Circus Ring of Fame in Sarasota in 2010.The Lenz Chimpanzees did a variety of astounding tricks including walking on stilts, a bull fighting act, iron jaw, and riding bicycles. But the most famous part of their act was the chimpanzee band, led by a chimp named Sally. When Rudi and Sue retired, Sally retired too, and lived with them. Here is a brief video of their act on Ringling Brothrs: https://www.facebook.com/reel/10214532565662838
