Kwame Charitable Foundation

Kwame Charitable Foundation The Kwame Foundation, was created on the philosophy that all public school students should be afforded the opportunity to advance to their full potential.

In 2003 Anthony and Kim Thompson started the Kwame Foundation. The Kwame Foundation is a non –profit organization that provide young people an opportunity to learn, grow, and become professionals in their chosen careers. To accomplish our mission the Kwame Foundation provides financial assistance, educational mentorships, internship opportunities, and training in careers consistent with those need

ed to compete in a changing environment. Although we serve students of all races, our target is minority students pursuing post-secondary and graduate degrees who are bright, talented, high-achieving individuals that would not otherwise have an opportunity for higher education. One of the principles upon which Kwame Foundation was founded was to provide opportunities for growth, development and leadership to young professionals. As an extension of that principle – and in alignment with our holistic approach to sustainability – KWAME supports various education and mentorship focused organizations. In addition, through the Kwame Foundation, we endow scholarships at various institutions of higher learning across the country in order to assist in removing the financial barrier that exists for many minority and first generation college students.

| One Year Ago Today

On May 22, 2025, the Kwame Charitable Foundation launched its “Tornado Relief” effort to support individuals and families impacted by the devastating EF3 tornado that swept through St. Louis.

From collecting essential supplies to assembling care packages and showing up for our community in a time of need, this effort reflected what KWAME is truly about — service, compassion, and community impact. We are incredibly grateful to our employees, volunteers, partners, and donors who came together to help our neighbors during such a difficult time.

A year later, we still carry the same commitment to uplifting and supporting the St. Louis community whenever it’s needed most.

The Kwame Charitable Foundation is proud to support the next generation of healthcare leaders through the Kristin Thompson Endowed GSON Scholarship Fund.

Congratulations to Zykita Deal, a Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN) student at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing, who is dedicated to improving Black maternal health and advancing equitable care for families in underserved communities.

Inspired by her passion for advocacy and culturally competent care, Zykita plans to use her degree to reduce health disparities and provide compassionate care to women and families who need it most.

We are honored to invest in students like Zykita who are committed to making a lasting impact in their communities.
