Surveys and post-event correspondence received in connection with the 2026 CRB Symposium and Workshop and AAB MolDx Symposium overwhelmingly support a return to the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa for the 2027 meetings. The Marriott continues to receive high marks from attendees for service, food, sleeping rooms, and meeting space. The Marriott was able to accommodate CRB and AAB for another year on Tuesday, May 18, through Friday, May 21, 2027. We are excited to be returning to this popular venue for 2027.

AAB's Mike Muzzillo Educational Conference Scholarships

AAB’s Mike Muzzillo Educational Conference Scholarship Program was established to encourage young scientists/technologists to become active in the AAB/CRB. Scholarship awards from this program are dedicated in honor of Michael J. Muzzillo, D.Sc., MT(AAB), who passed away on February 27, 2019. Dr. Muzzillo chaired the AAB Board of Registry for many years, and he was a longtime member of the AAB Associate Member Section (AMS).

Preliminary CLF Payment Rates Announced

CMS announced the preliminary weighted median private payor rates for clinical laboratory tests. These preliminary rates will be used to set final payment rates for the 2027 Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS). According to the snapshot analysis from CMS, 186 codes have a higher weighted median compared to the CY 2026 CLFS rate, 169 codes have an equal weighted median compared to the CY 2026 CLFS rate, and 1,171 codes have a lower weighted median compared to the CY 2026 CLFS rate.

Announcing the Carleen Van Siclen Scholarship Fund

AAB is proud to announce the Carleen Van Siclen Scholarship Fund established in honor of the late Carleen Van Siclen who passed away on September 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Carleen was 62 years old.

Carleen's life was one of strength, commitment, faith, and lasting impact. Her legacy lives on not only in her family but in the countless students and colleagues whose lives she touched through her work in the field of medical laboratory science education.

AAB David Birenbaum Scholarship Fund 2027 Scholarship Applications Now Open!

The American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) is now accepting applications for scholarships from the David Birenbaum Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship awards are available to eligible AAB members and members of the AAB Associate Member Section, as well as their spouses, dependents, and grandchildren. Awards may be applied toward study in any academic discipline.
