Hey everyone! We have taken a bit of a break for these past few months, but we are very excited to start becoming more active on Facebook! We thought we would kick our re-introduction off with an infographic about the importance of exercising during this pandemic. It is very important to stay active during this time, even if it’s just a walk!

Our call to action:

On behalf of the EndingCOVID team, we would like to take this time to express our support to the Black community as we fight the racial injustice present in society. We are saddened by the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Tony McDade, and Breonna Taylor, among numerous other lives that have been lost. It is necessary to unite as one as we tackle the issue of police brutality and achieve institutional reform.

During these unprecedented times, it is increasingly important to contribute to the ongoing movement. There are many ways to do so—some of which include educating yourself about current issues, signing petitions, and donating to those who are currently the most vulnerable. Posting on social media is a great start, but there is always more to be done. Encourage your friends and family to take similar action. Challenge problematic behavior that you see in others. Decide to have difficult and potentially uncomfortable conversations with those close to you. Internal prejudices must be combated with the same force as blatant discrimination.

During the past couple months, the pandemic has greatly affected our local communities greatly. The same is true in many other countries, such as India, where migrant workers are one of the most vulnerable populations. The Indian government recently enforced a national lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 which left many workers - cab drivers, construction workers, and other owners of small businesses - lacking work or pay. Due to a lack of transportation, many workers attempted to reach home by foot and perished due to the lack of basic amenities. In order to support many of these migrant workers and their families, we are now working to help them fundraise. In the last two weeks alone, we have raised over $4000 to benefit more than 3,600 migrant workers. If you would like more information, please feel free to check out this page on our website. We are excited to announce our partnership with Period at Northwestern which is an incredible organization fighting to protect the menstrual health of women amidst the global pandemic.

Sign the petition below to mandate the provision of free menstrual products in shelters throughout the state of Illinois. Homeless menstruators are some of the most vulnerable people during this pandemic due to surges in domestic abuse and the inability to follow stay at home orders to stay safe and healthy. We are trying to provide them with the basic human right of access to free menstrual products so they can maintain their menstrual hygiene to prevent further exposure to COVID-19. No matter where you live, help make a difference by sharing (student orgs, greek life, family, friends, community orgs,etc.) and signing the petition below to mandate the provision of free menstrual products in Illinois shelters. Every signature counts!

Hello everyone!
Just recently, we published our collab with Unplugg'd during which our very own Tejas Sekhar participated in a podcast outlining how he's using his experiences and resources to fight COVID-19. As part of the collab, we also released a mask and clothing collection for anybody that may be looking for cloth masks in this time. Be sure to read the article and listen to the podcast as well as look at the variety of cloth mask designs offered. All proceeds from these purchases will be used to give back to the community - such as buying more PPE for hospitals or donating to food banks in local areas! Thank you all so much!

Most recently, we were able to donate a variety of food items and toiletries to the Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis thanks to donations from the Protective Angels of St. Louis and the Boinepally family. The Urban League fights for social justice and economic opportunity in the St. Louis area and will allocate the donated items to those with the greatest need. The EndingCOVID team was fortunate enough to partner with the Protective Angels of St. Louis to donate food items and gloves to Metro Area Professional Organization. MAPO works to relocate these items to rehabilitation centers and other health centers that can use these resources to assist those in need. During these unprecedented times, we are grateful for the support of local organizations in St. Louis that have allowed us to expand our outreach. With your support, we hope to not only continue to donate such resources, but also further our ability to assist those in need!
