πβ¨ COURT IS IN SESSION! β¨π For Youth!
Did you know we serve youth ages 14-24 with our no-cost Leadership Program?
On May 23rd, the gym at 1839 Hogan Street was absolutely rocking with the sound of dribbling basketballs, squeaking sneakers, and non-stop cheering! ππ Fathers & Families Support Centerβs (FFSC) Youth Leadership & Development Program (YLDP) proudly hosted an epic, high-stakes showdown: FFSC Mentors & Staff vs. the DYS Youth! π€π€
From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, it was a high-energy clash of generations, but the real victory wasn't on the scoreboardβit was the masterclass in teamwork, communication, and mutual respect. π€π―

π€ Marcus (16): "I thought we were just going to play some ball, but the mentors really pushed us to communicate... It was tough going up against the adults, but it was a lot of fun figuring out how to work together as a unit to score!" βΉοΈββοΈπ₯
π€ Jamal (15): "Playing against the staff was awesome. Even when the game got close... they were encouraging us to keep our heads up and trust our teammates. You could tell they really wanted us to succeed." π₯Ίβ€οΈ
By stepping out of the traditional mentorship setting and onto the hardwood, our staff connected with these young men on a whole new level. πͺ΅π
π’ "This event was about so much more than basketball," says Director Shan Oliver. "We used the court as a classroom to teach invaluable life lessons about teamwork, resilience, and how to carry yourself when faced with a challenge." π
