This post has had over 44,000 views and Cooper is still here. It is in no way an emergency, he’s just a sweet little boy who wants a home. ❤️

Of all the cats at our rescue, the one who breaks my heart the most is Cooper. I have often described him as the perfect cat. Why? He is gentle and kind, a good eater, perfect with his litter box habits, sweet with other cats and humans. Humans. Cooper absolutely loves people. He hangs back, unsure and a little timid, but once he knows you’re a friend he is yours. Cooper never has an off day. He is always happy and good-natured, always close by, just a little unsure.

So why has this sweetie been overlooked time and time again? He’s an adult (2-3 years old). He’s a brown tabby. He’s shy. Three strikes. Cooper doesn’t rush out to meet visitors. He doesn’t hop on your lap, he isn’t sitting at the door waiting. But get a brush and he melts. You honestly cannot brush this baby long enough to satisfy him. Pet him and you can see him blossom. He watches visitors wistfully from a short distance, hoping for attention. He wants so much to have a human or a family of his own. Watching him be ignored time after time hurts. I whisper to him, ‘Your human will come’, but I’m beginning to wonder if that’s true. 💔🐈‍⬛

111. 111, that’s how many days until January 1, 2027. 111 days left on our shelter building lease. 111 days left to find a new home for our rescue, our cats.

As I sit here watching everyone I can’t help wondering what the future holds for us. We have many adoptable cats, and some who simply aren’t fond of people. They have as much value as any, but obviously aren’t going to be adopted any time soon.

I have a request. If you have ever thought ‘Maybe we have room for another cat’ or ‘Do you think Sylvester would enjoy a companion?’, please consider one of our adult cats. We have some amazing sweethearts we will be talking about in the days to come. For many reasons they have been passed by, never picked. Often these are the most loving because they KNOW you’ve saved them and they show their appreciation every day. Just a thought from someone who knows. ❤️🐈‍⬛

The picture on the left is Wilbur, who was living on our front porch and hopped through the window one cold day last winter. Wilbur is still figuring things out, but he’s playing with sweet Serafina, who is looking for a home and is a complete sweetheart. She’s waited 2 years. 💔
