Passing of The Last Real Son Brother William Pool
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Brother William Pool, the last son of a Civil War soldier, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the age of 101.
Brother Robert AuBuchon received this news this evening from Brother Pool’s daughter, Carolyn George. Funeral services will be held at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri, followed by burial at Enon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Morrisville, Missouri. Funeral arrangements are pending. Brother AuBuchon will remain in contact with the family and will share any additional information as it becomes available.
Please keep the Pool family in your prayers during this time of loss.
Brother Pool’s father, Charles Pool, served in Company “D” of the 6th West Virginia Volunteers. Brother Pool served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater.
In memory of Brother Pool, The Department and Camps Charters along with their websites shall be draped. All Brothers of the Department of Missouri shall attach a black mourning ribbon to their membership badge.
