K9s For Camo

Cowboy has officially reported for duty! Yesterday he met his veteran, and just like that, they became a team. Serve proudly, Cowboy!

Sometimes the hardest part is letting them go. 💛

In September, a frightened doodle was dropped off at Dapper Doodle Grooming for a last-minute appointment. He was in pain, covered in fleas, so matted he couldn't see, and his owners wouldn't come back for him. Our Vice President, Summer Gerhardt, sat with him until he trusted her enough to be touched. Rescue One stepped in, the mats came off, and he got a new name: Dapper.

Over the past several weeks, Summer has been by his side through every step of his recovery, and the two of them built a bond that's hard to put into words.

Now Dapper has officially begun his training to become a service dog for a deserving veteran. 🇺🇸

Dropping him off was hard. Summer really just wanted to take him home. But he's on a mission she believes in, so this isn't goodbye. It's bye for now.

From a dog nobody came back for to a battle buddy someone will count on. That's the second chance we're here for. 🐾

Train hard, Dapper. We're so proud of you.

🚨 Tomorrow, October 14, is the LAST DAY to buy tickets for A Night of Valor: Denim & Diamonds!

If you’ve been meaning to join us, grab your tickets tonight. Your support helps put trained service dogs beside veterans at no cost to them.

In this Around The Ozarks interview with Grace Gooley, our founder, John Lopez, shares why that matters: one veteran who spent years limiting his outings to work and church met his daughter for lunch at the mall just two days after receiving his service dog.

Help make more moments like that possible. Join us Friday, October 23, at the Oasis in Springfield for dinner, live music, an auction, and the chance to meet some of our service dogs and their veteran teammates.
Watch John’s interview, then make your plans before ticket sales close tomorrow. 🐾

Bella made a classroom visit! 🐾 We loved seeing her and her veteran join Dapper Doodle Grooming to celebrate one of their teacher appreciation contest winners.

Thank you to Dapper Doodle Grooming for including them, and to the teacher and students for such a warm welcome. A big thank-you to all the teachers caring for our community’s kids! 💛
