A few weeks ago, Charlie was wandering the streets of Texas with no place to call home. Life was uncertain, and every day was a struggle.

Fast forward to today, and this handsome guy is heading off to our prison training program! 💚 🐶

He may have traded the streets for a new address and a bright future, but at heart, he's still Charlie from the block—the same lovable pup who just needed a second chance.

We're excited to watch him learn, grow, and train for the future veteran he deserves. Stay tuned for updates on Charlie's journey!

Ask most people what K9s For Camo does, and they'll say it in one breath: we pair veterans with service dogs at no cost. True — but it's only one-third of the story. 🐾

Every dog we place changes three lives, not one:

🐕 A shelter dog — often just days from euthanasia in a southwest Missouri kennel — gets a second chance and a purpose instead of a final day in a cage.

🛠️ An offender learns to train that dog — and walks away with a real skill for life on the outside. To date, 13 of our former inmate trainers have gone on to careers with pet resorts, nonprofits, and other animal work.

🎖️ A veteran gains a battle buddy trained to help shoulder the weight of PTSD and the invisible wounds of service — and never sees a bill.

Founder John Lopez doesn't look for a breed. He looks for a temperament his trainers call an "old soul" — calm, steady, the kind of dog that can settle a hard day instead of adding to it.

The proof is in stories like Mark's.

One of our earliest veterans, Mark rarely left home for years. The day after his dog Chase arrived, he met his daughter for lunch at the mall — and he hasn't stopped stepping back into the world since.

Sierra was out putting in the work with Summer during public access training. 🐾

Every outing gives her another chance to build confidence, sharpen her focus, and learn how to stay steady even when the world around her is busy. It may look like a simple trip through the store, but for a K9 in training, these moments matter.

The moment Deidra walked through our doors, you could see everything she was carrying — overwhelmed, nervous, and excited all at once. She wasn't even sure she belonged here. Others had told her she didn't need a service dog. But Deidra carries the invisible wounds of war, the kind that don't show on the outside but shape every single day.

There were tears. There were hugs. And there was one thing we made sure she knew before anything else: You are in the right place.

Then she met Delta.

We watched her whole demeanor change. The shoulders dropped. The breath came easier. In just a few minutes of working together, a veteran who walked in unsure she deserved to be here started to see what a battle buddy could mean for the road ahead.

What a night! 🏈 Saturday at The Ozarks Lunkers game, a veteran was chosen to be honored at halftime — and it turned out to be one of our very own. Dan, one of our incredible volunteers, got the recognition he so deeply deserves.

Watching Dan be celebrated in front of that crowd meant the world to all of us. Our volunteers give so much of themselves to this mission, and seeing one of them honored for his service hit just right.

We also have to give a shoutout to Lane — our youngest volunteer — who was there cheering right alongside us. The future of K9s For Camo is in good hands.

Huge thank you to The Ozarks Lunkers for honoring those who served. We're grateful to be part of a community that takes time to recognize and thank our veterans.

Poker Run 2026 is officially in the books. 🏍️🐾

We had 15 riders show up, 29 hands sold, and a whole lot of good people spend the day with us in support of K9’s For Camo.

And because we like to keep things practical around here, we’ll be calling her Julie for short — yes, we removed exactly one letter. Very efficient. Very official. 😆

A little rain wasn’t going to stop us. 🏍️🌧️🐾

It’s been a wet morning, but we’ve still had some dedicated supporters out enjoying the K9’s For Camo Poker Run and helping support our mission.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who decided to brave the weather and spend part of their day with us. Whether you’re riding, driving, volunteering, hosting a stop, or cheering us on from home, thank you.

We wanted to share a few photos from today’s event so far.

And if you’re still thinking about joining us, there’s still time! We’re running a little ahead of schedule because of the forecast and expect to arrive at Wacky Jacks around 1:00 PM. We’ll be hanging out there this afternoon, although depending on how the weather develops, we may wrap things up before 5:00 PM.
