One of the things we love most at the Dream Center is seeing people step into new seasons of purpose. ❤️

A previous program participant has recently started serving with us at the front desk and has been learning the ropes through training shifts over the last few weeks. During one of those shifts, she answered a phone call from someone looking for a community resource we didn’t have listed anywhere. Without missing a beat, she was able to share several places they could try from memory because she knows firsthand how to navigate those resources.

What a gift that kind of knowledge and experience will be to the families who walk through our doors or call the DC looking for help.

We’re grateful for the way stories can come full circle here.

We seriously can’t wait for this year’s Golf Classic! ⛳️

Big thanks to these incredible partners for jumping in with us to make the day happen. It’s going to be full of fun, competition, and community, all while helping create real hope and transformation for families through the Springfield Dream Center.

The Springfield Dream Center office will be closed today, Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day ❤️🤍💙.

We will reopen tomorrow for our adjusted summer hours tomorrow, check them out!

🌟 School year wrap up!!

Over the past 2 weeks, our Dream Center Academy students have been celebrating an amazing year.

We have enjoyed thrilling water balloon battles, smiled in the sun with friends, and explored creativity through fun crafts.

We are so thankful for all our fantastic students and determined teachers this year! They are what make this year's moments memorable and worth retelling. We are excited for the futures of our students; yet bummed that we have to say goodbye to them for a bit.

Let summer break begin!

🌟Volunteer Highlight: Kathy Rehwinkel🌟

Kathy Rehwinkel serves as the volunteer coordinator for the Senior Box Program, and she brings such steady care and consistency to everything she does.

She is incredibly diligent with details, especially when it comes to application paperwork, making sure everything is accurate and handled well for each person we serve. Just as important, Kathy is a thoughtful listener. She helps people feel seen, heard, and cared for in every interaction.

Kathy has a background in healthcare, and it shows in the way she pays attention to people and their needs. We are so grateful for Kathy and the care she brings to the Senior Box Program and the families it serves.

🌟DCA Student Highlight🌟

Isaac has been part of the Dream Center family for 6 years now, and it has been incredible to watch his journey unfold. Over the past two years in particular, something has really shifted in him. He hasn’t just grown, he has stepped into leadership in a way that is impossible to miss.

You can see it in the hours he has given so freely. Over 50 hours of community service poured into the Dream Center and the North Springfield community. More than 10 hours spent sitting with and reading to our elementary students, showing up with patience and care. And even during our last spring break camp, Isaac didn’t just attend, he served as a part-time teacher, helping lead and support the next generation.

Through all of it, Isaac has consistently shown exemplary character, respect, and kindness to both his teachers and his peers. He has been steady, dependable, and deeply thoughtful in the way he carries himself.

We are so proud of Isaac as he graduates from our DCA High School Program. While graduation is a milestone, it doesn’t feel like an ending for him. Isaac plans to continue serving and will even be stepping into a part-time teaching role here at the Dream Center. His story here is not closing, it is just beginning to unfold in a new way.

🌟 Program Highlight - Diaper Bank 🌟

Did you know our Diaper Bank program has been updated?

Families can now pick up diapers once per month for children in their home under age 3. Our Diaper Bank is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM.

While diapers are the practical need being met, one of the things we love most about this program is how relational it has become.

Families aren’t just picking up diapers and leaving. Over time, names are remembered, conversations continue, and genuine relationships are built. Parents are often surprised when volunteers remember them month to month, and there’s always a chorus of families asking, “Where’s Sue?” when she happens to miss a day.

Each month, around 70 households visit our Diaper Bank, and we’re grateful to create a space where families feel known, welcomed, and supported.
