At Springfield School Volunteers, we believe every student deserves encouragement, connection, and the opportunity to succeed. Through our three volunteer programs, community members make a meaningful impact in Springfield Public Schools:

Mentoring – Build a positive relationship that encourages confidence and personal growth.

Read Aloud – Foster a love of reading by sharing stories with elementary students.

General School Support – Help reinforce learning by assisting students and teachers in the classroom.

As an independent nonprofit, Springfield School Volunteers proudly partners with Springfield Public Schools to connect caring community members with meaningful opportunities to support students.

Today, on National Nonprofit Day, we’re celebrating the people and partnerships that make the work of Springfield School Volunteers possible.
For more than 50 years, SSV has connected caring community members with Springfield students—creating opportunities for learning, encouragement, mentorship, and connection.
Our volunteers come to us from different backgrounds, professions, neighborhoods, and stages of life, but they share something important: a belief that showing up for young people matters.
We’re grateful for every volunteer, educator, school partner, community organization, supporter, and friend who helps make this work possible.

With the first day of school just around the corner, we're hard at work preparing for volunteer orientations, coordinating with our school partners, and getting everything ready to welcome volunteers into Springfield classrooms.

While students and volunteers will soon see the finished product, there's a lot happening behind the scenes to create meaningful connections and support schools throughout the year.
