Y’all…we HAVE to stop pretending that p0rnography and human trafficking, especially s*x trafficking, exist in two completely separate worlds.

THEY DON’T.

P0rnography can be and most commonly is a vehicle for exploitation, a source of profit for traffickers, and a place where victims are exploited over and over again.

And here’s the uncomfortable part…

You cannot always tell whether what you’re watching involves someone who was coerced, manipulated, threatened, or trafficked.

Let that sink in.

We cannot claim to be against human trafficking while refusing to examine the industries, behaviors, and demand that can help sustain exploitation.

I’m not asking you to be comfortable with this conversation.

I’m asking you to be WILLING to have it.

Because awareness without action changes NOTHING.

If we want to fight exploitation, we have to be willing to examine what we’re consuming.

Do you know WHO represents you…and how to make your voice heard?

At our Warrior321 meeting, Alyssa presented Know Your Legislators, sharing a graphic identifying our Hernando County Board of County Commissioners and our state and federal representatives.

Knowing who represents us is a starting point for ACTION. We can ask questions, share concerns and urge our elected leaders to make preventing human trafficking and protecting victims a priority.

Alyssa closed with a message from Tim Tebow about the urgency of this fight: The time to act is NOW…because every day we wait, people continue to suffer.

Behind every conversation about policy are PEOPLE. Children. Families. Victims who need protection and a path to freedom.

Alyssa…THANK YOU for helping our community connect awareness with civic action and reminding us that our voices have a purpose! ❤️

Your ONE THING? Learn who represents you—and reach out about the fight against human trafficking.

We cannot leave every conversation at “somebody should do something.”

WE can do something. And NOW is the time.

That online job opportunity…do you know who’s REALLY behind it?

At our Warrior321 meeting, Scott spoke about **Online Recruitment for Labor Trafficking**—how traffickers use online opportunities to recruit people and exploit their need for work and a better future.

He walked us through recruitment methods, red flags to watch for and ways to protect ourselves by knowing the signs and having an EXIT PLAN.

When someone is looking for income, stability or a fresh start, an opportunity can feel like an answered prayer. That’s why we need to slow down, ask questions and look beyond the promise.

Trafficking awareness includes recognizing exploitation through LABOR. These conversations matter for ourselves, our families and anyone searching for their next opportunity.

“Somebody should do something.”

What if we changed that to…“What’s ONE THING I CAN do?”

At our Warrior321 meeting, Anjel challenged us to close the gap between AWARENESS and ACTION.

She shared a QR code linking to the Texas School Safety Center’s “Vulnerabilities and Protective Factors” resource and walked us through the conversations we have with ourselves on why we don't get involved:

“I don’t want to get involved.”
“What if I’m wrong?”
“I wouldn’t know what to do.”

Those concerns are understandable. But taking action can begin with something as simple as SEEING someone others pass by…and asking, “Are you okay?”

They may say they’re fine. They may say nothing more. But knowing someone noticed them and cared enough to ask could be the beginning of a change we never get to see. That’s the power of a ripple. ❤️

Anjel gave everyone commitment cards and challenged each person to identify ONE THING they can do. Everyone’s ONE THING will look different:

▪️ Have real conversations with your kids and grandkids.
▪️ Learn who to call when you have a concern, so uncertainty doesn’t leave you frozen.
▪️ Give your time or talent to a local organization doing this work.
▪️ Learn what human trafficking actually looks like—so you stop expecting Hollywood.
▪️ Take Anjel’s direct challenge: Choose NOT to watch, consume or participate in po*******hy.

Imagine the change Hernando County could experience if each of us committed to just ONE THING…and followed through.

One person.
One decision.
One action.
ONE THING.

That’s how we begin changing our county, our state and our nation.

Y’all…a HUGE THANK YOU to the people who made our Warrior321 meeting so outstanding!

Rita Peters…thank you for sharing WHY you became a prosecutor and letting us hear your heart for children and victims. Hearing how your office and the Attorney General tackle these difficult cases gave our community a deeper understanding of the work—and the people—behind the pursuit of justice.

These cases are HARD. Thank you for stepping into that work and reminding us why we must keep showing up, speaking up and taking ACTION.

We are grateful for the ways you continue to show up for this mission and our community. Feeding a room full of people AND helping them connect with the cause? That’s a good night! 🙌

There is NEVER a shortage of questions at our meetings…and we’re so fortunate to have law enforcement there to address those questions and concerns directly.
