Can’t even trust your local Santa.

A Central Florida undercover operation led by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of 19 suspects accused of attempting to meet minors for illegal sexual activity.

The suspects were arrested during Operation Child Protector VIII, a multi-day operation targeting individuals accused of trying to meet up with minors for sexual activity.

Among those arrested was a well-known local Santa Claus, a detail that has drawn widespread attention and concern to our central Florida community.

We commend the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and all law enforcement partners involved for their work to identify offenders and protect children from harm.

Cases like this are a reminder that child exploitation can happen closer to home than many families realize.

Be aware of who your children are around and talking to online. Visit our educational resources to learn more about monitoring your child’s digital footprint: childrescuecoalition.org/education

Last night's Warrior 321 Community Awareness Meeting brought together community members and local business owners committed to learning, engaging, and taking action against human trafficking and online exploitation. HUGE shoutout to Lisa Hannon with Mrs. Grout for providing the food for this meeting!

We explored several critical topics, including the S*x Trafficking Demand Reduction Act, an eye-opening look into the realities of the deep and dark web, and key allegations outlined in the Roblox lawsuit and why these concerns matter to parents, caregivers, and anyone invested in protecting children online.

We were also honored to have Sheriff Al Nienhuis join us for the evening. It was wonderful having him speak with attendees, share his perspective, and answer some thoughtful questions from the audience. His willingness to engage directly with our community was greatly appreciated. Hernando County Sheriff's Office

Our guest speaker, Casey Jones with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), absolutely blew our minds. She took everything we've been discussing for years and brought it to an entirely different level. Casey walked us through what it means to live safely in today's digital world, what online grooming actually looks like, how children can fall into the sexting trap, and the devastating consequences that can follow.

The information was heartbreaking, eye-opening, and powerful. Some of it was difficult to hear, but it was exactly what we needed. Every parent, grandparent, caregiver, educator, and concerned citizen should hear this message. Knowledge remains one of our greatest tools in protecting children.

Thank you to everyone who attended, asked questions, shared insights, and helped foster meaningful dialogue. Together, we continue the work of educating, empowering, and protecting our community.

If you need resources or would like to report concerns related to human trafficking, contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or FDLE Headquarters at 850-410-7000.
