When Autism Doesn't End at 18
The diagnosis doesn't disappear.
The support often does.
When a child with autism turns 18, many people assume services, opportunities, and support systems continue into adulthood.
Too often, they don't.
Many autistic adults face:
• Poverty
• Social isolation
• Unemployment or underemployment
• Limited access to therapies and supports
• Long waiting lists for services
Families who spent years advocating for their children often find themselves navigating adulthood with very few resources.
