💜 Find the Purple ONEbox: A Life-Saving Innovation in the Fight Against Opioid Overdose 💜
I recently had the privilege of speaking with a representative from the West Virginia Drug Intervention Institute, a nonprofit doing extraordinary work to combat the opioid epidemic. One of their most impactful tools is the ONEbox™, a technology-enabled emergency opioid overdose reversal kit that provides on-demand, multilingual video instructions for administering naloxone during an overdose.
The ONEbox was invented by Joe Murphy, a native West Virginian who witnessed the devastating toll of the opioid crisis on his hometown and was inspired to create a device that could save lives in real time. The ONEbox is now deployed across all 29 college campuses in West Virginia, homeless shelters, libraries, and law enforcement agencies—empowering communities to respond swiftly and effectively to overdoses.
As the founder of a su***de prevention organization and a resident of Spokane, WA, where over 80% of overdose deaths in 2024 involved opioids—many linked to fentanyl this mission resonates deeply with me. Spokane is one of many communities devastated by this epidemic, and tools like the ONEbox offer hope and action.
