Spokane Valley Quilt Guild At the Spokane Valley Quilter's Guild we offer a lot of options for our members. Fundraising for our club and community are another major interest.

Our common interest in quilting brings us together to befriend and encourage each other, to share ideas and skills to gain knowledge of our craft by providing a comprehensive library, experienced teachers, and to participate in community service projects. We have an extensive Library of quilting and related books that are available for checkout to members at most of our meetings. A variety of Classes are offered, from potholders and color workshops to the more basic skills needed in quilting. There are Small Groups for those of us who can't get enough of our quilting sisters. We contribute to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery and the Spokane Valley Partners through various Community Sew Days and annual Events such as the Kindred Spirits Outdoor Quilt Show. A Newsletter is published 6 times a year.

"An Angel Watching Over Ewe" by Janet Stone won the Marie White Masterpiece Award at Road to California 2023.

Artist Statement: "Inspired by antique fracturs, this quilt was created in honor of my late mother, who passed away in 2012. The many designs in this quilt are my interpretations of antique fracturs.

My late Siamese cat, Mr. Siamese, also makes another appearance in this quilt. I added several hand covered buttons in this quilt which I had done for several prior quilts, but I needed something different for the alphabet blocks on the border.

I got online and found a source in Czechoslovakia who was selling vintage Dorset buttons that were reasonably priced. They are made out of cotton thread and were the perfect embellishment for the border. The inspiration for the angel came from 18th century headstones from the east coast cemeteries.

I think my mom would love this quilt, especially sharing it with Mr. Siamese, whom she loved."
