Rain or shine, 100-degree days, subzero temperatures, snowstorms, and everything in between, hunger doesn’t take a day off, and neither do our volunteers. ☔️❄️

No matter the weather, you’ll find them showing up to ensure their neighbors are fed.

On days like today, we’re reminded (a little extra) on just how much we appreciate them.

The South Portland Food Cupboard is seeking a part-time Food Distribution Coordinator to help oversee our food distribution operations and support the thousands of neighbors we serve each year.

We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, people-focused, and passionate about making a difference in the community. This role works closely with volunteers, staff, recipients, and community partners to ensure our distributions run smoothly.

➡️Part-Time (20 guaranteed hours/week, up to 25 hours)
➡️Monday–Thursday

We know distribution days can sometimes be loud and overwhelming. To help make our space more comfortable and accessible, noise-canceling headphones are available to borrow during your visit!

If you’d like to use a pair, simply ask a staff member or volunteer.

We ask that you please return headphones at the end of your visit. All headphones are sanitized between uses.

Everyone deserves to access food and resources in a space where they feel comfortable, respected, and welcome. 🍎🫐🥦🥖

Need food? We’re here for you! Join us TOMORROW for our Thursday distribution from 8:30 -11 am at the South Portland Food Cupboard! 🥕🍞🍏🥚🥩

📍 Come once a month to our Thursday distributions and leave with a cart full of groceries to help feed your household for the month!

New to the cupboard? Save time by filling out your paperwork in advance! Download forms here: https://www.southportlandfoodcupboard.org/distribution

No printer? No worries! Forms are also available on-site when you arrive.

Here’s how Thursday distribution works:
1️⃣ Check in at our welcome table
2️⃣ Fill out your grocery menu
3️⃣ Return your completed menu
4️⃣ Volunteers prepare your order while you do some bonus shopping (picking out extra food)
5️⃣ Pull your vehicle into the loading area
6️⃣ We load groceries directly into your car!

Our volunteers are here to support you during the process and to make it respectful and welcoming for EVERYONE!
