STRIVE STRIVE is a non-profit serving 1400 tweens, teens, & young adults with intellectual disabilities--th

The STRIVE Program of PSL Services is designed to address the many issues faced by young tweens, teens and adults (ages 11-24) with developmental disabilities. Areas that we focus on include: improving fundamental academic skills, developing leadership potential, improving economic opportunities through continuing education, enhancing or upgrading work skills, integrating literary and social skill

s into occupational/vocational opportunities, fostering career opportunities through education and training, and promoting peer support for parents and siblings of this young population. The general long range goals for STRIVE as a whole include:

-To enable young adults to become a part of their community
-To offer a wide array of resources to young adults and parents
-To provide a safe place for young adults with disabilities
-To provide a social setting for transitional tweens, teens and young adults
-To build and foster peer support through a social atmosphere
-To provide a sense of ownership
-To provide an intro to computer technology for people with disabilities
-To educate and provide opportunities for high school aged mentors to learn from persons with disabilities
-To begin literacy programs for persons with disabilities
-To offer a resource library of post-secondary educational opportunities
-To begin a job training and placement program
-To assist parents in working with the established system
-To have active student mentors working with this population
-To do preventive work in the areas of smoking, drug, & alcohol abuse
-To provide valuable life skills

BIG thank you to our United Way of Southern Maine Day of Action volunteers from BerryDunn who helped out in our teen center today! They spent the morning revitalizing our teen center by painting, reorganizing, building shelves, and refreshing our chalkboard wall. Huge shoutout and thank you to Berry Dunn for pouring so much into our space—we’re incredibly grateful for this amazing community! 💙

Camp STRIVE is off to a great start! Our campers have loved getting to know each other, playing games at our Foden Road location, trying new crafts, and going on local trips to Maine Audubon and Bug Light, where we were able to take in the views and spend some more time together outdoors 🌻🌞🌳

If you’re looking for something fun to do over summer vacation, consider joining us at Camp STRIVE! We garden, create special treats, explore nature and our local community, bring out our creativity with arts & crafts, try new (and favorite!) games, and stay active together—there's something for everyone 🤩

Camp STRIVE runs through Friday, August 28 with full and half day options available. Registration and additional details can be found at pslstrive.org/camp. Don’t miss out—we only have a few spots left!

Camp STRIVE is for ages 11–24 and enrollment is first come, first served.

One of the benefits of learning at home with Strive WorldWIDE is that your pet can come to class with you!

STRIVE WorldWIDE is a first of-its kind online education program designed to teach independent living skills in an interactive and accessible way. Join STRIVE WorldWIDE for a 5-week course taught on Zoom with additional self-paced learning opportunities available fully online.

We'd love to see you and your furry friend in classes with us! A new set of courses begins on June 29, 2026.
