This summer, our ADT Community Program sites once again had the opportunity to work with , continuing a partnership that began in 2017.

Through samba percussion, students explored the rhythms and culture of Brazil, the Caribbean, and the African diaspora while building skills in focus, communication, geography, and math.

They learned samba, baile funk, and coco rhythms on buckets before ending the program with a workshop using the professional instruments played by MiamiBloco’s performing bateria.

More than a music class, the program connects students to a cultural movement happening right here in Miami and a community they can continue growing with.

Happy Birthday to our Executive Director, Camila!

Camila’s journey with Armour Dance Theatre began long before she became our Executive Director. She first walked through our doors as a middle school student, later joining the office as a student assistant while still in high school.

From there, Armour Dance Theatre became more than a place where she trained it became where she built her career. She went on to lead our Community Programs, helping expand the work we do beyond the studio and into the communities we serve, before eventually stepping into the role of Executive Director.

From student, to staff member, to program leader, to Executive Director, Camila has truly grown alongside ADT and dedicated her career to its mission.

Today, we celebrate not only her birthday, but the incredible journey that brought her here and the impact she continues to make on our students, families, staff, and community.

Happy Birthday, Camila! We’re so grateful to have you leading the way.

ADT alumnus Nicholas Losada ’10 returns to Armour Dance Theatre this Friday, August 21, to lead a Modern Fusion Master Class for our intermediate and advanced modern dance students.

Now in his sixth season with the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Nicholas is bringing his world-class experience back to the place where his own training began.

Friday, August 21 | 7–8 PM

We’re proud to share that Armour Dance Theatre has been awarded two grants through the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation: a Capacity Building Grant and an Arts Ecosystem Capacity Building Grant. ✨

Each grant supports a different aspect of our priorities for growing our impact, while advancing a shared commitment to strengthening our organization, our artists, and the communities we serve.

We’re deeply grateful for this support and excited to continue growing, innovating, and expanding our impact through the power of dance. 💙

Our 2026–2027 Dance Uniform Guide makes it easy to know exactly what your dancer needs for class. Uniforms are assigned by level to help create consistency in the studio and allow our faculty to clearly see alignment and technique.

Tomorrow, we’re excited to welcome Mariya “Masha” Dashkina Maddux back to Armour Dance Theatre for a special weekend residency with our Advanced Modern students.

Masha first came to Armour as a student in 1998 and continued training here through high school while attending New World School of the Arts. She later returned as a teacher before joining the Martha Graham Dance Company, where she rose to the rank of Principal Dancer.

Her career has taken her from the Graham stage to international performances, film, photography, and teaching, and today she continues to stage Martha Graham’s iconic works for universities and professional dance companies.

This weekend, our students will have the opportunity to learn directly from Masha as she sets one of her choreographic works on them through an intensive residency.

A full-circle moment for an Armour alum and an incredible opportunity for the next generation of dancers.
