South Florida's Voice of Conservation. Tropical Audubon Society has been leading South Florida bird walks, championing wildlife, protecting Biscayne Bay and the Everglades since our 1947 founding, with our roots dating back even earlier. As the official local chapter of National Audubon, we are among Miami’s most esteemed non-profit environmental organizations. Known as “South Florida’s Voice of C

onservation,” we’ve been on the frontlines of environmental protection for decades — standing strong against contamination of our drinking water, defending the Urban Development Boundary, and advocating for the protection of Endangered Species and the preservation of our region’s Globally Critically Imperiled Pine Rockland habitat. Mission: Conserve and restore South Florida ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats. We welcome open dialogue and thoughtful discussion on our page. What a BLOOMING Success!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us today for Tropical Audubon’s Go Native Plant Sale. From the moment the gates opened, our community showed up in force to support South Florida’s native plants, wildlife, and habitats.

We are especially grateful to our presenting sponsor, Galloway Farm Nursery, whose partnership helped make this event possible.

Thank you as well to our incredible volunteers, whose energy, dedication, and hard work kept everything running smoothly throughout the day. Events like this simply would not happen without you.

And to every patron who purchased plants, asked questions, shared stories, and spent part of your day with us—thank you for investing in a greener, more resilient South Florida.

The warm, breezy weather provided the perfect backdrop as our community came together to celebrate native landscaping and conservation in action. Every native plant purchased today helps support the restoration and protection of the ecosystems we all cherish.

Together, we're growing a healthier future for South Florida—one native plant at a time. 🌱🦋🐦

🔥 POLLINATOR POWERHOUSE 🔥

Firebush (Hamelia patens) earns its fiery name from its bright orange-red blooms — and pollinators LOVE it! Hummingbirds, butterflies, and native bees flock to this South Florida favorite, while birds enjoy its berries later in the season. Even better? Firebush can bloom nearly year-round in South Florida. ❤️🦋🐦

🌿 PLANT FUN FACT! 🌿

Did you know Coontie (Zamia integrifolia) is Florida’s only native cycad and has been around since the age of dinosaurs? Even cooler — it’s the exclusive host plant for the beautiful Atala butterfly (Eumaeus atala)! Once thought extinct in Florida, Atala butterflies made a comeback thanks in part to more people planting coontie in their landscapes. 🦋
