The Somerset Noon Rotary Club extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of our fellow Rotarian, Christie Adams.

There simply aren’t adequate words to describe the heart of a servant that Christie possessed or the impact she made on those around her. She lived a life of service, not for recognition, but because caring for others was simply who she was.

Each and every one of us has been touched by Christie’s kindness, generosity, compassion, and unwavering willingness to serve. She embodied the very heart of Rotary and truly lived “Service Above Self.”

Christie’s presence in her club (Somerset-Pulaski Morning Rotary Club), our club and throughout our community will be deeply missed, but the example she set will remain with us for years to come. We are grateful to have called her our fellow Rotarian and our friend.

Christie will be treasured, remembered, and deeply missed.

As everyone celebrates America's 250th Independence Day, we just celebrated our new Rotary Year on July 1st, which coincidentally fell on the first Wednesday of the month - our regularly scheduled meeting.

Our first meeting of the new Rotary Year set the bar high, as Megan Damron, Club Treasurer, had the program and she welcomed Sherry Crose, Executive Director of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, as our guest speaker. Sherry's overview of the history and mission of the Kentucky Colonels was fascinating and we loved learning about all the new service, fundraising, and grant opportunities that are in the works. We appreciate Sherry speaking to our club and if you'd like to learn more, give them a follow at Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

The new Rotary Year also begins with the passing of the torch to our new Club President, Doug Hutton, and we're excited for big things to come during Doug's term. Huge thanks to Farrah Dobbs, Immediate Past President, for her guidance, energy, and leadership over the past 12 months.

If you have a heart for service and you're looking to get involved, Noon Rotary might be the perfect fit. We'd love to have you join us on the first Wednesday of each month! Consider this your invitation!

As we close out our 2025-26 Rotary Year, we're happy to go out on a high note. Rotarian Elliott Cross had the June program, and he invited Dr. Carey Castle, President & CEO of Somerset Community College, speak to our club on behalf of the college as well as the upcoming and much anticipated return of the Lake Cumberland Air Show.

Dr. Castle and the entire Air Show board have worked hard to bring this event back bigger and better than ever. This November, thousands of aviation enthusiasts and patrons will gather around the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport to celebrate the excitement and economic impact of aviation in Kentucky and the Pulaski County area. The Air Show aims to inspire youth to consider a career in aviation and create visibility for LCRA, an invaluable public asset right here in Somerset.

Thank you Dr. Castle for a wonderful program!
