Our school has been successfully serving students with language based learning disabilities, school adjustment issues, and complex academic challenges for more than 50 years. At Center School, we ha

ve a culture of lifelong learning that extends past just students. Our staff and administrators are committed to training, exploring new programs, and keeping up with the latest and best practices in special education. Our administration is dedicated to student and staff wellbeing and success. We go the extra mile for every student. Students who come to the Center School find a school where they are personally known to their teachers, can express themselves and explore their strengths, and feel comfortable being who they are while getting an individualized education. We go above and beyond just an “appropriate education” in a “least restrictive environment”. As you walk the halls of our school you will find an environment where students want to learn and where teachers adapt to meet them where they are. Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. WHO DOES THE CENTER SCHOOL SERVE? We serve students ages 5-21 with learning disabilities and/or complex educational needs. Our students thrive in an academic setting tailored to meet their specific needs. We have students who are academically strong but are in need of support, as well as students who require a modified academic program with life skills incorporated in their program. Our programs are a fit for students in multiple classification categories. The Center School is not an appropriate placement for students whose disability manifests in aggressive or destructive behaviors. HOW MANY STUDENTS WILL BE IN MY CHILD'S CLASS? Our class size is small. Typically, there will be 4-8 students per class, along with a certified special education teacher. WHAT SUPPORT SERVICES ARE OFFERED AT THE CENTER SCHOOL? In addition to our academic program, The Center School provides social skills, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, physical therapy, counseling, college and career counseling, and transition planning. HOW DOES MY CHILD GET TO THE CENTER SCHOOL? Your school district is responsible for your child's transportation to and from The Center School if they are placed by their district.

The Center School Elementary Market Day 2026. Another great success with our young entrepreneurs hosting their highly anticipated Market Day, proudly displaying and selling their custom creations. It was wonderful to see the students confidently using their communication skills to interact with customers and applying their math skills to accurately compute change in real time. Throughout the experience, they put important life skills into action by planning, budgeting, advertising, communicating with customers, problem-solving, and even calculating change on the spot. Students impressed us with their innovation, teamwork, and professionalism. It was wonderful to watch them take such ownership of their work while applying classroom learning in a meaningful, hands-on way. Market Day truly highlighted the power of young minds turning big ideas into reality. Thank you to all the families and supporters who helped make this experience so special for our young business leaders!

The Center School's Children's Reading Week closed out on Friday with members of the Rutgers football team, for a second year now, visiting and reading with all our students. These athletes also tried their hand at Mario Cart with one of our eSports Team state champion's, but were "trounced" each game: The Center School- 2, Rutgers- 0. (And no, they did not throw the games!) Thanks to these great players for volunteering their time.
