Join libraries across the state as they provide resources to move PA Forward! This initiative created by the PA Library Association and carried out by its member libraries relies on resources that will help citizens master five literacies and in turn create a stronger workforce, higher tax base, and growing economy.

Civic and social literacy is the ability to participate and contribute effectively in your community, government, and society.

At the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library, we support civic and social literacy by providing the resources to master it. Our programs include speakers, who will educate and inform you about contemporary and historic topics. Our book clubs are a great place to meet with other community members and express your opinions. We also have strong print and digital collections on topics that reflect historic and
modern issues.

To become an informed reader and master Civic and Social Literacy is easy.
 Attend our programs.
 Stop by the library to receive your free library card. Then, look through our selection of printed books, magazines, and newspapers.
 Go to our website at www.maryslibrary.com and sign up for an e-card to access our digitalcollections. You can also join one of our book clubs. Books are provided to check out for each month’s meeting.

Remember, by improving Civic and Social Literacy across Pennsylvania, we will become stronger citizens.
