Regional Shared Ride Ride-Along Brings Local Transportation to Life

On October 14th, Tableland Services, Inc. and the Somerset County Transportation System (SCTS) had the pleasure of welcoming Senator Pat Stefano and Representative Andrea Verobish for a Regional Shared Ride Ride-Along event. The visit provided an opportunity for our elected officials to experience firsthand how shared-ride transportation operates and the important role it plays in serving the residents of Somerset County.

The visit began at Tableland Services, where Senator Stefano and Representative Verobish met with our team before heading out in SCTS vans to pick up clients and experience our daily operations. During the ride-along, they learned more about the shared-ride model, the coordination required to serve multiple passengers efficiently, and the dedication it takes to provide safe, reliable transportation throughout our rural communities.

For many Somerset County residents, shared-ride transportation is much more than a ride. It is a vital connection to medical appointments, employment, essential services, and greater independence. In a rural county like ours, where distances are long and transportation options can be limited, SCTS helps bridge the gap and ensures that residents have access to the services they need.

Having our elected officials experience the service firsthand was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate both the challenges and the successes of operating a rural shared-ride system. It also allowed us to highlight the commitment of our drivers, dispatchers, schedulers, and customer service staff who work together every day to keep our community moving.

Tableland Services, Inc. and SCTS appreciate Senator Stefano and Representative Verobish taking the time to join us, meet our team, and learn more about the importance of shared-ride transportation. Their participation helps bring greater awareness to the needs of rural transportation providers and the residents who depend on these services.

💚🐘 Learning. Growing. Finding Purpose.

What a meaningful day of learning and professional growth for members of our Early Head Start & Family Center teams and Community Services leadership team!

We had the opportunity to complete Mental Health First Aid Certification Training facilitated by Penn State Extension at the International Conservation Center and are proud to officially be certified Mental Health First Aiders! 🎓

Mental Health First Aid provides valuable tools to help us recognize when someone may be struggling, respond with compassion and confidence, and connect individuals with the support and resources they need.

At Tableland Services, Inc., we believe that investing in our team means investing in the people and communities we serve. 💚 Every opportunity to learn and grow helps us become stronger leaders, better teammates, and even more prepared to make a difference.

And getting to learn together in such a unique setting made the experience even more memorable! 🐘
