Somerset County Military Family Support Group Keeping hearts at home connected with hearts abroad. If help cannot be provided by the group, you will be instructed as to where to turn.

Mission: Our desire is to assist soldiers and their families by providing support that promotes self-sufficiency, strength, stability, readiness and love. Our support group was formed in March of 2003 and is comprised of military families, Vietnam Veterans, retired military, and community members. Now, more than ever, whether a family member, a spouse, or a friend, you may take comfort in knowing there is a support system in place at all times to make deployment or, and separation from, your loved one as easy as possible. Our group has a large network to help the family left behind with any challenges that may arise from home maintenance to insurance issues. Our "support family" watches out for one another. With overwhelming pride we stand united in support of, pray for, correspond, and to thank the families of the brave soldiers, sailors, and airmen defending our freedom and protecting the United States of America. Our meetings are open to the public and occur twice monthly to discuss group business and assemble military care-packages. Please refer to our calendar pinned post and the google calendar on our website. Our meetings are held at 7:00 PM at the Somerset County Area Agency on Aging Senior Center located at 1338 South Edgewood Avenue, Somerset, PA 15501.

🇺🇸 **HELP US HONOR OUR SOMERSET COUNTY SERVICE MEMBERS** 🇺🇸

The Somerset County Military Family Support Group is asking for the public’s help as we prepare for our upcoming **Candlelight Vigil**.

We are looking for the **first and last names and military branch** of individuals **currently serving in the U.S. military who are from Somerset County**.

📬 If a service member is currently **deployed outside the contiguous United States**, we would also appreciate their **mailing address** so we can send care packages.

📋 **Forms are attached** for you to provide this information. Completed forms may be **mailed or emailed** to us. You may also send the information to us through **Facebook Messenger** so we can prepare a luminary for the service member.

**Please provide:**
• First and last name
• Military branch
• Mailing address, if currently deployed outside the contiguous United States

🇺🇸 **We also need your help keeping our list current.** On the night of the vigil, if you notice a name of someone who is **no longer serving**, please let us know so we can update our records and remove them from our list.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day — attending parades, enjoying backyard picnics, and welcoming the start of summer — we pause to remember the true meaning of this day.

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifice carried by their families, is the reason for the freedoms we enjoy each day.

Today, we remember the fallen, we honor their legacy, and we keep their families in our thoughts and prayers.

From all of us at Somerset County Military Family Support Group, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
