* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southwestern Cambria County in central Pennsylvania...
Northeastern Somerset County in south central Pennsylvania...

* Until 745 PM EDT.

* At 720 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Jerome, or 8
miles southwest of Westmont, moving east at 45 mph.

THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR BOSWELL, JOHNSTOWN, DAVIDSVILLE.

HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Johnstown, Westmont, Windber, Belmont, Geistown, Southmont,
Boswell, Dale, East Conemaugh, Salix-Beauty Line Park, Davidsville,
Central City, Beaverdale-Lloydell, Paint, Jerome, Scalp Level,
Sidman, St. Michael, Dunlo and Daisytown.
Seek shelter now inside an interior room on the lowest floor of a
well-built structure. This storm is capable of producing widespread
destructive winds.

The National Weather Service in State College has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Cambria County in central Pennsylvania...
Northern Somerset County in south central Pennsylvania...

* Until 1015 PM EDT.

* At 721 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain crossing the warned area. Additional rainfall amounts of
1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Johnstown, Somerset, Westmont, Windber, Belmont, Portage, Geistown,
Southmont, Friedens, Vinco, Boswell, Dale, East Conemaugh,
Salix-Beauty Line Park, Davidsville, Central City,
Beaverdale-Lloydell, Paint and Jerome.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

September is National Preparedness Month! So, if you have a chance during the month, please stop in at the Somerset County Office Building 300 N Center Ave. The Department of Emergency Services has a table set up containing lots of informational brochures and booklets pertaining to various emergency preparedness and disaster planning. There are even some coloring books and other activity books for children to help get them engaged in emergency preparedness too. All month long we will be posting various items that could help you and your family prepare for a disaster. Flood Warning

FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 AM EDT THIS MORNING... ...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING
Flood Warning issued August 11 at 8:29AM EDT until August 11 at 11:30AM EDT by NWS State College PA
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...Southwestern Somerset County in south central
Pennsylvania...

* WHEN...Until 1130 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 825 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the
warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
- A Flood Watch remains in effect through 5 AM Wednesday.
Additional heavy rainfall is possible.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Meyersdale, Ursina, New Centerville, Mount Davis, Rockwood,
Confluence, Salisbury, Garrett, Addison, Wellersburg, Casselman,
Callimont and Seven Springs.
