Congratulations to this year’s recipients of our staff awards!
This year’s Nature Award recipient is Allie Geist from the Bluebird classroom. Allie has embraced our nature-based philosophy and has expanded the curriculum to include all aspects of the great outdoors on our small campus. Allie has brought the outdoor environment to the classroom to explore with sticks, feathers, rocks, snow, and this year created a pretend tree with the children. One of our favorite observations is when Allie opens the door and sends everyone to the yurt’s ‘backyard’ to play. Thank you, Allie, for providing such a well-rounded place for children to grow and for your commitment to getting your students outdoors.
This year’s Wisdom Award recipient is Cara Whalen from the Foxes. Cara has spent the past few years creating fun and developmentally-appropriate lessons and curriculum for her students that are creative and challenging. What’s more, Cara demonstrates that to teach is to be a lifelong learner, continuing to try new ideas and learn new things. Cara’s constant sense of calm during the busy days of preschool provides a solid foundation of learning and exploration in a playful environment. Thank you, Cara, for providing such a kind, steady, and thoughtful community for the Foxes.
This year’s Wellness Award recipient is Samantha Mattey from the Bluebird classroom. Sam approaches each relationship with the Bluebird students by focusing on the wellness of the whole child, developing beautiful rapport and relationships with students and their families. She acknowledges and supports where they are along their learning journey to encourage them to the next level of development. What’s more, Sam understands the value of personal wellness in taking care of herself during times when life is full of ups and downs, making it possible for her to show up and care for her students. Thank you for knowing what it takes to support each student to help them fly from the Bluebird nest.
